About the Opportunity:

Washington County Solid Waste & Recycling Division is seekinga Community Outreach Coordinator.

In this role, you will implement the team's new recycling contamination reduction program and help coordinate the team's other community outreach activities. You will lead a team of community outreach specialists, ensure compliance with program requirements, assist with program reporting and help develop the contamination reduction expansion strategy. This role requires strong program/project management skills, experience collecting and analyzing data and ability to lead a team consisting of various backgrounds while centering the needs of the community it serves.

Work Schedule: This position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule.

An ideal candidate would have:

  • The ability to supervise a team and coordinate complex programs and/or projects, preferably with a focus on educational or environmental programs

  • Skills to convey complex information in way that is easy to understand and appealing to various audiences

  • Ability to navigate regulatory requirements and understanding of Oregon's recycling landscape

  • Understanding of behavior change best practices

  • The ability to problem solve and identify possible solutions and opportunities

  • Skills to complete detail-oriented tasks and utilize a strong set of systems and approaches in place to ensure accuracy

  • The ability to work collaboratively with team members, colleagues and community members

  • Strong active listening and communication skills

About the Division:
Washington County's Solid Waste & Recycling division helps community members, property managers and businesses sustainably manage materials to prevent waste, recycle and dispose of garbage properly. We regulate how garbage and recycling is collected, transported, stored and disposed. We offer waste prevention and recycling information and resources to community members and businesses in all of the cities in Washington County, except the City of Beaverton which operates its own program. We also provide code enforcement services in response to complaints about nuisance, noise and garbage and recycling collection services in unincorporated Washington County. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Management, Public Policy, or related fields;ANDthree (3) years of work experience in the environmental field.

  • This position requires the possession of a driver's license valid in the State of Oregon and an acceptable driving record per Washington County policy:Driver's License & Records Policy-Vehicles.

6. Conditional Offer of Appointment:Human Resources will conduct a salary analysis for the final candidate(s) and the hiring manager will extend a conditional offer of appointment.

7. Post-Offer Check:The final candidate requires to successfully clear a driving record check as a pre-employment condition.

8. Start Date:A start date will be determined after all pre-employment condition(s) have been met.
