The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Summary, Essential Functions:

  • To help oversee the daily operations of the Transfusion Services section of the laboratory and delegation of duties within the lab,
  • This includes but is not limited to ensuring regulatory and policies compliance, achievement of team goals, operation, maintenance and quality control of equipment, validations, staff training, and competencies,
  • The individual will display initiative, the ability to troubleshoot, reliability and dependability while maintaining efficient operations and upholding the highest level of quality and safety,
  • Promote positive customer service to all by utilizing principles of their clinical expertise through sound managerial and leadership skills,
  • Functions as a working Supervisor which includes performing duties of a Blood Bank Technologist as needed, providing compatibility tests for patients, blood transfusion needs as per the SOPs,
  • Assists and prepares standard operating procedures, training and validation protocols,
  • Effectively manage and utilize the blood and blood product inventory,
  • Assistance with the preparation, collection and review of quality control/assurance data reports & performance of quality audits as assigned,
  • Reallocates resources as needed,
  • Monitoring and communicating all operational issues,
  • Monitor errors, deviation trends, helps complete investigations and audit outcomes as well as employee and patient safety initiatives,
  • Completes employee schedules, time cards accurately, signed and submitted on schedule,
  • Serves as a resource for assigned areas of expertise and provides technical support to staff,
  • Functions as the technical on-call person for the off-shifts,
  • Assists in researching new tests, performs instrument evaluations, writes standard operating procedures, and maintains supplies,
  • Resolves technical problems and troubleshoots when test systems are not within established levels of performance,
  • Overseeing, performing, monitoring and training-competencies as it relates to Blood Bank policies and procedures for all shifts,
  • Making recommendations for corrective actions,
  • Ensure that Transfusion Service policies and procedures are current, reviewed and signed by the Medical Director and assigned leadership as needed,
  • Works with leadership on appraisal outcomes,
  • Performs duties as assigned,

Education-Experience:

  • BS degree in Medical Technology required,
  • ASCP preferred,
  • A minimum of 2 year s recent experience in Blood Bank required,
  • Highly responsible, self-motivated individual sought,
  • Must be detail oriented and able to work in a high stress high throughput technical environment,
  • Must be able to work independently and be able to troubleshoot problems,

Schedule:

  • Position requiring flexible work hours,
  • Requires weekend hours as needed,
  • Occasional evening/night hours,
  • Good communication skills desired,
  • Assigned work hours 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM,
