Schedule: Monday-Friday | 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Pay Rate: $30-$35/hour (based on experience)

Position Overview

Wabtec is hiring a skilled Tool & Die Technician (Toolmaker) to support precision manufacturing operations within a stable, safety-focused production environment. This role is ideal for experienced technicians who specialize in tooling fabrication, die repair, machining, and troubleshooting, and who enjoy working hands-on with both conventional and CNC equipment.

You'll play a critical role in maintaining tooling accuracy, improving production efficiency, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities



  • Fabricate, modify, repair, and maintain dies, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and tooling
  • Set up and operate CNC and conventional machines to produce precision tooling components
  • Perform test runs, troubleshooting, and adjustments to ensure tools and dies meet specifications
  • Cut, shape, and trim metal or plastic materials using power tools and hand tools
  • Read and interpret engineering blueprints, BOMs, sketches, and work instructions
  • Measure, layout, and mark materials using precision measuring instruments
  • Inspect finished components for dimensional accuracy and quality using calipers, micrometers, and gauges
  • Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement related to tooling performance
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in compliance with safety standards



Required Qualifications



  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
  • 3-6+ years of Tool & Die or Toolmaker experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documentation
  • Experience working with tight tolerances and precision measurements
  • Solid problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with production teams


Preferred Qualifications



  • Technical Associate's Degree or formal Tool & Die apprenticeship
  • Experience with CNC machining (mills, lathes, grinders)
  • Demonstrated leadership or mentoring experience
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement or lean initiatives
