CNC Programmer - 3 & 4 Axis Milling (Manufacturing)

Schedule: Monday-Friday | 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00/hour (DOE)

Position Overview

Wabtec is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to support precision machining operations producing high-quality components for rail and transit applications. This is a hands-on programming role focused on 3-axis and 4-axis CNC milling, process optimization, and collaboration with engineering and production teams to drive quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

This role is ideal for a CNC Programmer who enjoys owning programs from concept through production and working closely with machinists on the shop floor.

What You'll Be Responsible For



  • Program, set up, and support 3-axis and 4-axis CNC milling machines
  • Develop, test, and troubleshoot CNC programs to meet engineering specifications
  • Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and machining tolerances
  • Select tooling and determine optimal speeds and feeds for various materials (cast, extruded, and bar stock)
  • Create and maintain setup sheets, tooling lists, and standard work documentation
  • Support production by troubleshooting machining and quality issues
  • Monitor process capability and quality using SPC and basic statistical tools
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives using Lean manufacturing principles
  • Train and support operators on machining processes and standard work
  • Assist with equipment, tooling, and process improvements
  • Operate CNC and manual machines as needed to support production



Technical Environment



  • CNC Mills: Mazak, Doosan
  • Axis Capability: 3-axis & 4-axis
  • CAD/CAM: 2D & 3D modeling
  • Measurement: Calipers, micrometers, gauges
  • Manufacturing Systems: Lean, 5S, TPM, Kanban



Required Qualifications



  • Formal training or certification in CAD/CAM programming
  • 3+ years of CNC programming experience (mills required)
  • 3+ years of hands-on CAD/CAM experience
  • Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills
  • Experience programming and supporting CNC machining operations
  • Working knowledge of precision inspection tools
  • Ability to work standard 1st shift with occasional overtime
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills



Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience with CamWORKS
  • Familiarity with automation, pallet changers, or robotic load/unload systems
  • Knowledge of SPC, DOE, or advanced quality tools
  • Experience in high-mix, precision manufacturing environments
