Our Critical Infrastructure Capacity Planning Engineer is responsible for analyzing, forecasting, and optimizing capacity within our critical infrastructure environments to ensure stability, scalability, and operational readiness. This role plays a key part in supporting network reliability, long-term growth, and strategic planning across core systems and facilities.

The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, technical expertise, and the ability to collaborate across engineering, operations, and leadership teams to drive data-informed decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Capacity Planning & Forecasting

  • Conduct short- and long-term capacity forecasting for critical infrastructure, including power, cooling, transport, and core network systems.

  • Identify capacity constraints, risks, and future growth requirements using data models and trend analysis.

  • Develop scenario modeling to support strategic planning and capital investment decisions.

Infrastructure Analysis

  • Evaluate system utilization metrics, performance indicators, and environmental factors across multiple sites and platforms.

  • Partner with engineering and operations to validate infrastructure capabilities and limitations.

  • Recommend remediation or upgrade paths to support reliability and scalability.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Engineering, Architecture, Field Operations, Construction, and Program Management to align capacity planning with business and network initiatives.

  • Provide clear communication to leadership regarding capacity risks, resource needs, and infrastructure impacts.

  • Support cross-team planning efforts for new builds, expansions, and modernization projects.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Create and maintain detailed capacity reports, dashboards, and inventory records.

  • Track project timelines, capacity thresholds, and infrastructure changes.

  • Ensure all documentation meets internal standards and compliance requirements.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to automate data collection, reporting, and forecasting processes.

  • Contribute to the development of capacity planning tools, frameworks, and best practices.

  • Stay informed on emerging technologies, infrastructure trends, and industry standards.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field (or equivalent work experience).

  • Minimum of three (3) years in capacity planning, network engineering, infrastructure engineering, or similar role.

  • Strong analytical and data modeling skills.

  • Proficiency in Excel, data visualization tools, and reporting platforms.

  • Ability to understand technical diagrams, power/cooling concepts, and network architecture basics.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly.

Preferred

  • Experience in telecom, data centers, critical facilities, or large-scale network environments.

  • Knowledge of fiber networks, transport systems, or core routing/switching infrastructure.

  • Familiarity with DCIM tools, asset management systems, or capacity planning platforms.

  • Project management experience or certification (PMP, CAPM, or similar).

Estimated base salary range: $77,100 - $118,600 USD/annually

The base pay range shown is a guideline and reasonable estimate for this role. It takes into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted range based upon geographic location, work experience, skill level, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Non- sales roles may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive plan. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a sales incentive plan.

Additionally, this position may be eligible for certain benefits, such as health insurance, life insurance, disability retirement plans, paid time off.
