Job Description - Student Intern, IT Compliance

Position Description

Tucson Electric Power, one of Arizona's leading utility companies, seeks an individual for the position of Career Skills Intern, IT Compliance Analyst in the IT Compliance Department. This department is responsible for the company's daily operational compliance with and oversight of various Information Technology ("IT") compliance programs, such as Critical Infrastructure Protection ("NERC CIP"), Sarbanes-Oxley ("SOX"), Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards ("PCI-DSS") and Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act ("HIPAA").
Controls we work with are in the areas of: access control, change control, monitoring, patching, job scheduling and backup & recovery in accordance with internal process and procedures, policies and standards. We review evidence of compliance and provide guidance to Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). We assist with design and implementation of policies and systems to support compliance.
We are looking for an energetic candidate with a strong foundation. We provide on-the-job training. This role will work with the IT Compliance team to perform day-to-day compliance reviews, access reviews, as well as process and documentation updates. Intern will assist with the maintenance of new or updated compliance programs and requirements.

Position-Related Responsibilities

  • Participate in projects that the IT Compliance Department is coordinating.
  • Assist in preparing for, tracking and responding to audit data requests from internal or external auditors.
  • Assist in the of oversight processes for access controls, change control and patching.
  • Execute compliance related test cases in various software applications and document results.
  • Assist in the completion of various Information Technology ("IT") compliance programs evidence.
  • Maintain key lists that are required for compliance, such as key system inventory list and other related documents.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Must be pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics or related discipline with a graduation date no earlier than May _2027____.
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 15 - 20 hours per week during regular business hours; and 20 - 40 hours a week during the summer and school breaks.
  • Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.

Requirements

Student Interns must maintain the required hours for full-time student status, good academic standing at their college or university, as defined by the college or university and the GPA required for graduation by their college or university.
Failure to maintain full-time status, good academic standing and/or the requisite GPA will result in Student Interns being deemed ineligible for participation in this program.

Pay Rate: Salary determined based on candidates experience and qualifications.
