A Brief Overview As a Behavioral Specialist II, you will play a vital role in helping children and adolescents with complex emotional, behavioral, and psychiatric needs build the skills they need to succeed. In this hands-on clinical role, you'll deliver advanced, individualized behavioral support guiding youth to strengthen safety awareness, emotional regulation, communication, and positive engagement throughout the treatment day. Drawing on your growing expertise in applied behavior analysis and behavior modification, you'll lead treatment room activities, model best practices, and ensure consistent implementation of therapeutic interventions. Beyond direct care, you'll serve as a mentor and emerging leader supporting the training and development of Behavioral Specialists I and Behavior Assistants while collaborating closely with the interdisciplinary treatment team. What you will do
Serve as the primary behavioral rehabilitation specialist for assigned youth, collaborating closely with the interdisciplinary clinical team. Develop and implement individualized behavior modification protocols aligned with the master treatment plan. Identify, define, track, and graph target behaviors and skill deficits to monitor progress and treatment effectiveness. Provide direct clinical care, including leading or co-leading therapeutic groups and delivering structured social-emotional skills instruction throughout the treatment day. Coordinate treatment room operations and maintain daily schedules to ensure consistent implementation of program protocols. Conduct patient assessments, orientations, and phone intakes while incorporating family and systems considerations into care planning. Maintain timely, accurate documentation, including treatment protocols, progress notes, outcome measures, and discharge summaries. Ensure a safe, therapeutic environment through close supervision of youth and use of non-violent crisis intervention strategies, escalating to physical intervention only when necessary and under guidance. Serve as a clinical resource and role model for Behavioral Specialist I and Behavior Assistants by demonstrating skills, providing guidance, and assisting with onboarding and coverage. Participate actively in supervision, clinical rounds, staff training, and professional development to support high-quality care and continuous program improvement.
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree psychology, social work, education, school psychology or a similar field of study - Required
- Master's Degree - Preferred
Experience Qualifications
- At least three (3) years experience with direct care of youth with social, emotional, behavioral and psychiatric needs - Required
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of typical and atypical youth development and related areas.
- Knowledge of behavioral methodology and principles.
- Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing in English.
- Computer skills including familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.
- Critical analysis and problem solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other health care team providers.

$51,730.00 - $64,660.00 Annually
