We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for a part-time evening position, working 24 hours per week on a rotational shift basis. The ideal candidate must hold a valid NYS Nursing Assistant Certification and have a BLS certification (AHA or RQI certs only). Additionally, the candidate should have at least one year of experience in a long-term care (LTC) setting and be licensed for a minimum of one year.


Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and indirect resident care as directed by licensed nursing personnel, adhering to the scope of practice defined by certification.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, including understanding the principles of growth and development of the life span.
  • Meet residents' activities of daily living (ADL) needs as outlined in the plan of care, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment. This includes hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence/catheter care, elimination/toileting needs, turning/positioning, and skin care, with documentation completed per protocol.
  • Maintain resident environment and safety, including answering call lights and alarms promptly, providing safety mats and low beds, using restraints under nursing direction, and maintaining cleanliness of the unit. Ensure behavior and fall prevention, appropriate equipment use, and documentation per protocol.
  • Meet residents' nutritional needs as outlined in the plan of care, including meal delivery, tray preparation, adaptive equipment, feeding, and nourishments, honoring residents' preferences and choices, with documentation completed per protocol.
  • Address residents' rehabilitative needs, including range of motion, ambulation, transfers, proper body alignment, and use of assistive devices, with documentation completed per protocol.
  • Report residents' rights, refusals, and concerns to the Charge and/or Supervising Nurse promptly, and identify and report changes in resident physical, emotional, and psychosocial status.


Occupational Exposure

There is a reasonable anticipation of occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens. Required tasks may involve potential contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues.


Required Skills and Experience

  • NYS Nursing Assistant Certification: Required, with at least 1 year of experience.
  • Experience in LTC or CNA capacity: Required, with at least 1 year of experience.
