In this role, the Senior Technical Program Manager will be responsible for understanding the services and components required to deliver a particular experience, establishing clear program optimization strategies, and introducing new capabilities and technologies that revolutionize the user experience and advance the industry. Our objective is to fully transform the Software Asset Management lifecycle, making it simple, intuitive, cost-effective, and compliant as possible while enabling the next level of productivity for both users and administrators. You will also play a key role in defining the service offering and roadmap to enable Microsoft's customers to achieve amazing results in their own digital transformation.

The Senior Technical Program Manager possesses extensive software asset management experience in a large global organization, deep enterprise software licensing knowledge, and a proven track record in audit, compliance, and team leadership. They will balance technical and business objectives and will engage and influence senior leaders internally and externally to deliver high quality solutions and user experiences. Effective negotiating, influencing, and leadership skills mixed with creativity and subject matter expertise will be essential to achieve strategic alignment of goals across this broad range of stakeholders.

This position is based at the Redmond campus, with 3 days per week work in the office and 2 days per week work from home. Relocation assistance is available.

Responsibilities
  • You will partner with multiple internal and external stakeholders including product teams, Software Engineering, Suppliers, Security, Procurement, Legal, and Finance to design technical solutions across feature areas. You'll also identify risks and propose data-driven mitigations.
  • You will define success criteria and create relationships for implementing features for complex cross-functional projects.
  • You will coordinate and ensure alignment across organizations.
  • You will deliver on roadmap for multiple feature groups, track project schedules, develop staging and implementation plans, and manage governance programs.
  • You will drive continuous improvements by validating use cases and writing test cases from scratch. You'll also lead teams to partner with other departments to collect performance metrics, drive customer support, and lead direct customer engagements.

In addition to these core responsibilities, you will also:

  • Apply a continuous improvement mindset and collaborate with stakeholder organizations across the company including Security, Procurement, Finance, and Legal to infuse AI-driven transformation in our software asset management program.
  • Establish and govern methodologies for ensuring proper acquisition, deployment, usage, optimization, entitlement compliance, and renewal of software licenses.
  • Manage supplier relationships and contracts, including license renewal negotiations and compliance audits.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to non-compliant and/or risky software by developing and implementing remediation plans to address gaps in compliance or security.
  • Infuse automation everywhere - in our tools, in our process, and in our compliance checks and reporting.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years Software Asset Management experience, including 2+ years of experience administering software licensing contracts.
  • 3+ years experience applying analytical and continuous improvement skills.
  • 2+ years of experience using SAM solutions, preferably ServiceNow, to manage all aspects of an enterprise-level Software Asset Management service.
  • 1+ years experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).
  • 1+ years of experience working in an Agile environment.
  • IAITAM CSAM (Certified Software Asset Manager) Certification


Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
