Job Description

Summary
The Veterans and Military Specialist oversees tuition and fee processes for military-affiliated students, ensuring accurate data management in federal platforms such as Enrollment Manager and Tungsten. This position coordinates invoicing for military sponsors through the third-party billing process and interprets regulations related to VA education benefits to provide guidance across the University. The role ensures that sponsored students are billed correctly, maintains comprehensive knowledge of student account operations, and delivers exceptional customer service to students and campus departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with campus departments to deliver a seamless customer service experience for students and military sponsors.
  • Oversees all aspects of military-related third-party billing, including students sponsored by ROTC, the National Guard, and students utilizing military tuition assistance.
  • Reviews sponsorship documentation, establishes sponsor records in PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, prepares invoices, processes payments, and manages collections on delinquent accounts.
  • Utilizes federal invoicing systems such as PIEE, Tungsten, ArmyIgnitED, and AIPortal, ensuring the submission of all required documentation for timely payment.
  • Develops and maintains training materials related to veterans and military benefits for internal procedures and external system use.
  • Acts as a liaison between the financial aid office, MU Veterans Center, students, and the VA to ensure VA debts are resolved accurately and promptly.
  • Provides backup support for other third-party billing processes and assists with inbound customer service (phones, tickets, and walk-ins) during peak periods.

As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities may be expected to support the mission and priorities of the University of Missouri.

Shift

Monday-Friday; 8am-5pm

Minimum Qualifications

An Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Highly organized, adaptable, and eager to learn. Previous experience with veterans' education benefits strongly preferred. Ability to quickly assimilate new technology and/or applications. Strong attention to detail, analytic skills, and problem-solving abilities. Must be able to effectively handle competing priorities and work independently and as a collaborative team member. Fluent in MS Office Suite.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $19.50-$21.50 hourly

Grade: GGS-007
