Are you a new graduate or newly licensed RN eager to gain hands-on experience and grow into critical care? Our Float Pool Med-Surg is designed as a career bridge from Med-Surg to ICU, giving you the opportunity to learn, gain confidence, and advance-all while floating across diverse units.


Your Career Pathway: Med-Surg IMC ICU


  • Med-Surg Float Pool - Start your career gaining experience across multiple med-surg units. Build strong foundational nursing skills, confidence, and adaptability while being supported by experienced mentors.





  • Intermediate Care (IMC) - After 1 year of productive Med-Surg experience, transition into IMC. Here you'll care for higher acuity patients, develop advanced monitoring skills, and prepare for critical care responsibilities.





  • ICU - At the 2 year mark maintain IMC, transition into the ICU, where you'll provide specialized care for critically ill patients while mastering advanced skills and critical thinking under expert guidance





This structured pathway gives you clear growth milestones, hands-on experience across multiple units, and mentorship at every step-so you can confidently move into critical care without jumping in unprepared.

  • Johns Hopkins Hospital or Bayview Medical Center (Assigned and working at one hospital, not both)


Who Can Apply?


  • New graduate RNs welcome (training provided!)



  • Associate degree in nursing accepted (must enroll in a BSN/MSN program within 1 year and complete within 5 years)



  • Active Maryland or Compact RN license (or eligibility)



  • BLS CPR certification required

Salary Range: Minimum 35.02/hour - Maximum 52.69/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
