Enterprise Architect SME

Description of specific duties in a typical workday for this position:



  • The Enterprise Architect provides strategic architecture leadership and technical oversight to support enterprise modernization and transformation initiatives. The individual is responsible for defining, maintaining, and governing enterprise architectures that align business objectives, operational needs, data, applications, and technology across the organization.
  • Responsibilities include developing and maintaining enterprise architecture frameworks, roadmaps, and reference architectures; assessing current-state ("as-is") architectures; and designing future-state ("to-be") architectures that enable scalability, interoperability, security, and efficiency. The Enterprise Architect ensures alignment across business, data, application, and technology domains and supports integration across systems, platforms, and stakeholders.
  • Additional duties include supporting architecture governance and review boards; evaluating solution architectures for compliance with enterprise standards; supporting trade studies and architectural decision-making; and identifying technical risks, dependencies, and mitigation strategies. The Enterprise Architect collaborates closely with program managers, systems engineers, cloud architects, cybersecurity personnel, and data teams to ensure enterprise solutions are implemented consistently and in alignment with transformation objectives.
  • The role supports documentation of architecture artifacts, standards, and policies; provides decision-support analysis to leadership; and ensures enterprise architectures support long-term mission, operational, and sustainment goals.



Requirements (Years of experience, Education, Certifications):



  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, Architecture, or a related technical discipline
  • Minimum of 18 years of experience supporting enterprise architecture, systems architecture, or large-scale system integration within a DoD, Federal, or enterprise environment
  • Demonstrated experience with:

    • Enterprise architecture frameworks and methodologies
    • System-of-systems or enterprise-level integration
    • Architecture assessments and roadmap development
    • Alignment of business, data, application, and technology architectures
    • Architecture governance and technical reviews


  • Active Secret Clearance



Nice to Have (skills that are not required, but nice to have):



  • Experience supporting enterprise transformation, digital modernization, or IT modernization initiatives
  • Familiarity with:

    • Enterprise Architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF or DoDAF concepts)
    • Cloud-native and hybrid architectures
    • Data and application modernization strategies
    • Cybersecurity and RMF considerations at the enterprise level


  • Certifications such as:

    • TOGAF
    • Cloud architecture or systems engineering certifications
