The successful candidate will be expected to generate and implement modern petrophysical workflows for unconventional and conventional reservoirs. The candidate should be skilled in data acquisition management, tool theory/specifications/limitations, and core analysis. Finally, the candidate will work closely with geoscience and engineering staff to arrive at proper regional and asset level decisions that generate value for Diamondback.

Key Responsibilities

  • Properly build and implement petrophysical workflows that elicit rock properties to inform volumetric evaluations and resource characterization.
  • Tasked with data program recommendations, coordination, and implementation. This may require some field visits to oversee high resolution, multi-run, wireline logging and coring projects.
  • Integrate well logs with core, production, and reservoir data to develop accurate formation interpretations.
  • Provide asset teams with petrophysical support and collaborate with them to high-grade targets that will deliver high return on investment.
  • Assist in basin-wide assessment efforts by generating and presenting high-quality interpretations and recommendations.
  • Provide realtime petrophysical support during drilling, including MWD/LWD QC, well disposition, and operational recommendations.
  • Integrate petrophysical and geomechanical properties to support completion design, frac staging, and horizontal targeting.
  • Planning and supervising complex multirun formation evaluation programs, including coring, special logs, and highresolution passes.
  • Generate petrophysical models compatible with reservoir simulation workflows, including saturationheight models and rocktyping.
  • Lead endtoend data QA/QC including log editing, environmental corrections, core data reconciliation, and data governance standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years petrophysical experience
  • A Bachelor's degree in Geoscience/Engineering/Mathematics/Physics is required. A Master's degree or Doctorate in any of the previous subject matter is desired.
  • Experience in the Permian Basin
  • Resource play knowledge and experience
  • Expertise in petrophysical techniques and workflows with understanding of current technologies to provide guidance to team.
  • Experience in unconventional petrophysical assessments
  • Experience integrating multisensor logs (e.g., NMR, dielectric, spectroscopy, sonic) to refine mineralogy, pore structure, and mechanical rock properties.

Preferred Attributes

  • 8+ years preferred for senior staff level
  • Proficiency in multiple petrophysical and geologic platforms such as Interactive Petrophysics, Petra, Kingdom, Petrel, Techlog, and cloudbased data systems; familiarity with data science tools is a plus.
  • Petrophysical workstation experience, Interactive Petrophysics strongly preferred.
  • Have awareness of other aspects of the business inclusive of drilling, completions, operations, reservoir, land, and regulatory to help assist team to find efficiencies and foster better communication company-wide.
