Summary: The Manager, Marketing Operations, will support congress operations across the US commercial teams. This role will ensure congresses follow consistency and standardization while adhering to controls & compliance guidelines. The Manager will support the Senior Manager with national and regional event operations and execution. The ideal candidate must demonstrate ability to lead the day-to-day activities for executing conference requirements including but not limited to vendor set-up, letter of agreements, conference payment, and overall logistical management.
This position reports to the Director, Marketing Operations and interacts with the Marketing, Sales, Medical, Finance, IT, Legal, and Compliance. The role is ideal for someone who thrives in a busy, fast-paced environment and has demonstrated ability handling diverse live event projects in support of multiple brand teams and wants to help build something innovative.
The candidate must be willing to travel up to 10 to 15% per quarter.
Roles and Responsibilities: Key Job Responsibilities:
- Establish and develop positive business relationships with sales and marketing, and other cross functional partners to support the successful management and execution of each conference.
- Direct and lead the day-to-day activities of congresses and meetings.
- Support detailed plans for events that include a mix of Apellis and external personnel as well as booths, meeting rooms, symposia and/or other activities
- Ensure Apellis sponsorships of Congresses properly align with the overall Commercial strategy.
- Manage vendor activities for fulfillment of conference booths, room blocks, symposia execution, etc.
- Oversee & manage the system/ process for requesting congresses for the commercial team including all required documentation.
- Evaluate, develop/update and implement department SOPs and processes as needed
- Deliver events within established budgetary and procedural guidelines; execute all financial tracking and reporting
- Collaborate in conjunction with cross functional teams (Leadership, Marketing, Sales, Legal & Compliance) to identify different tiers of events, rationale, ROI as it relates to future investments for events
- Accountable for National, Regional and Local tradeshow invoices & payments
- Oversee the reconciliation and processing of payments at event conclusion
- Assess business processes as needed, making recommendations, socializing, and facilitating implementation of changes to support the business.
- Provide budget support, negotiate favorable pricing with a wide variety of vendors and ensure timely payment of invoices and billing reconciliation
- Provide cross-functional support to the broader operations team to provide comprehensive team support with special projects to address evolving business needs and foster professional development

Minimum Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- 2+ years relevant experience in Commercial and/or congress, conference, or events management.
- Travel requirement: 10 to 15% a quarter

Pay Information: Base salary for this role will consider multiple factors, including but not limited to, candidate qualifications, relevant expertise, specialized skills, and industry experience in complement-targeted therapies. The targeted base salary range for this position is $116,800-$175,200. This range represents the base salary only and reflects Apellis' commitment to competitive compensation within the biopharmaceutical industry. The final salary offered may vary based on individual qualifications, business needs, and current market conditions.
