The Global Director of Environmental Health, Safety, Sustainability & Engineering is responsible for developing, managing, and executing strategic initiatives and priorities across all PCG divisions worldwide. This role leads a global team operating in the USCA, LATAM, EMEAI, and APAC regions and provides compliance and risk management support to Sherwin-Williams operations and customers utilizing Sherwin-Williams products.

This position drives initiatives across PCG facilities, automotive branches, R&D laboratories, and Repair Centers. The Director ensures business continuity by maintaining compliance with local, state, federal, global, and company standards. Additionally, the role oversees fire safety engineering and asset maintenance for all PCG facilities and automotive branches in North America.

This role will report to the Sherwin-Williams Global Headquarters located at: 1 Sherwin Way, Cleveland, OH 44113.

* Define and execute strategic initiatives to protect employees and safeguard the Sherwin-Williams brand while supporting global operations and customer service.
* Develop and implement safety and risk mitigation programs, plans, and processes that significantly reduce operational risk.
* Drive engineering solutions and foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
* Collaborate with key stakeholders in sales, marketing, operations, HR, and legal to ensure alignment with corporate objectives.
* Manage global contractors to ensure projects comply with local requirements and are executed effectively.

MAJOR TASKS PERFORMED BY THIS POSITION:

1. Environment, Health & Safety Systems

Environment

a. Implement and maintain an Environmental Management System (EMS) to ensure compliance with local regulations and Sherwin-Williams standards.
b. Coordinate with the North America Corporate Environmental team to ensure timely submission of annual waste management reports.
c. Respond promptly to government inspections and provide formal, compliant responses within required timelines.
d. Oversee and manage contractors across multiple countries to ensure environmental compliance and successful execution of tank removals and other decommissioning projects in accordance with Sherwin-Williams standards.

Health

a. Develop and implement an occupational health monitoring strategy for all PCG operations.
b. Coordinate with corporate occupational health teams and external consultants to ensure timely and accurate employee exposure testing.
c. Implement measures to minimize chemical exposure, including the design and maintenance of effective ventilation systems.

Safety

a. Develop and implement safety policies and procedures in alignment with local, state, federal, and global regulations.
b. Monitor and stay current on global regulatory changes to ensure proactive compliance.
c. Provide crisis management leadership across all PCG divisions during emergencies, including natural disasters, ensuring employee support, environmental cleanup coordination, and rapid business recovery.
d. Design and deliver training materials for managers, blending operations, and automotive branch leadership.
e. Contribute to the development and maintenance of Safe Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) to promote consistent safety practices.
f. Maintain accurate and up-to-date training documentation, facility layouts, and other critical compliance records.
g. Ensure all operational and fire permits are properly documented and accessible to support inspections.
h. Identify and implement appropriate equipment and training solutions to reduce safety-related incidents; evaluate and recommend new processes for continuous improvement.
i. Collaborate with engineering teams across all divisions to support projects, contractor hiring and training, and budget planning.

2. Sustainability

a. Lead operational sustainability initiatives across PCG to achieve corporate environmental and social responsibility goals.
b. Conduct comprehensive energy audits and identify high-impact projects for energy efficiency and waste reduction.
c. Partner with corporate sustainability teams to support the development and publication of annual sustainability reports.
d. Build business cases for sustainability projects, including ROI analysis and prioritization (e.g., LED lighting conversions, energy optimization).
e. Collect, validate, and report sustainability performance data from all PCG locations to corporate leadership on a monthly basis.

3. Fire Engineering

a. Develop and execute global life safety strategies for PCG operations, ensuring compliance with NFPA and other applicable standards.
b. Design and implement fire suppression systems for new facilities and renovation projects, ensuring optimal protection and regulatory compliance.
c. Lead global PFAS conversion initiatives, including design review, contractor selection, and project execution.
d. Establish and manage a network of qualified contractors for fire protection services across all regions.
e. Collaborate with equipment suppliers and installation partners to ensure best-in-class fire safety solutions.
f. Deploy and maintain Maintenance Connection, a preventive maintenance software system, across facilities and automotive branches in NA, EMEAI, and LATAM.
g. Conduct asset surveys for fire protection systems in 160+ automotive branches and ensure all testing meets NFPA standards.
4. Automotive Engineering
a. Oversee engineering aspects of new branch openings, relocations, and remodels to ensure operational excellence.
b. Collaborate with real estate management to coordinate project execution and optimize timelines.
c. Review proformas and equipment specifications; contribute to modernization initiatives through participation in the Branch of the Future program.
d. Partner with real estate teams to identify cost-reduction opportunities in branch operations.
e. Actively participate in automotive business meetings to provide engineering support and strategic input.
f. Stay current with emerging technologies, equipment, and tools to maintain industry leadership and operational efficiency.

Minimum Requirements

* Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
* Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future (e.g., OPT, CPT, H1B, EB-1,etc.)
* Must have a bachelor's degree or higher in Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, or Business
* Must have at least 10 years' experience in EHS & Engineering field
* Must have at least 5 years' experience managing a team
* Must have at least 5 years of chemical industry experience
* Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications

* Have a bachelor's degree or higher in Occupational Health & Safety or Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Environmental Science), Industrial Hygiene, or Public Health
* Have Global Operations experience
* Have at least 5 years coating industry experience
* Have one or more of the following Professional Certifications:
o Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
o Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
o Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)
* Have familiarity with Environmental, Health, and Safety standards
* Have Lean Manufacturing training
* Be highly proficient in Microsoft office suite
* Have AutoCAD experience
* Have knowledge of Global regulatory compliance (OSHA, EPA, NFPA, REACH, etc.) and the following:
o Crisis management and business continuity planning
o Sustainability and ESG reporting
o Engineering project management
o Leadership and cross-functional collaboration
