Excellent growth opportunity for an individual interested in leading projects and/or project teams as a member of the Commercialization Engineering Team. Position is accountable for contributing to and/or leading Proactive Process Improvement projects, and in supporting all GSC Architectural business units in executing on Maintenance of Business and New Product Development.

Job duties include contact with other employees and access confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. This role will be located at Sherwin-Williams Morikis Global Technology Center located at 6745 Miller Road, Brecksville, OH 44141.

Technical and Professional Knowledge

  • Provide engineering support (DOE designs, failure mode studies, data analysis, formulation/processing recommendations, and test batch) throughout product development to ensure new product launch success.
  • Identification/assessment of technologies, paint making and testing, data analysis and application of paint formulation/knowledge to meet performance requirements.
  • Has broad awareness of group business knowledge and understands impact of work decisions
  • Establishes and executes experiments using appropriate experimental design parameters.
  • Analyzes data, makes decisions based upon data, demonstrates critical thinking and recognizes anomalies.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities, validates and implements change.

Project Management

  • Ensures all assigned projects are completed in accordance with the project requests,
  • May lead Continuous Improvement projects or portions of a technically challenging project,
  • Develops project plans including phases, timelines, project updates and deliverables.
  • Partner with team members to execute key project deliverables.
  • Lead studies to ensure technology robustness for downstream development and formula robustness for production.
  • Frequent and direct interaction with Manufacturing, Quality, PTS, Technical Labs, and various support groups.

Safety and Quality

  • Ensure Safety, Housekeeping, and ISO practices are followed.
  • Maintains all required certifications and follows quality standards.
  • Actively seeks to reduce risk through corrective action of unsafe practices.
  • Documents and maintains an up-to-date electronic lab notebook and project folder per/maintains ISO standards.

Communication

  • Clear and concise written documentation and verbal presentation of information and the ability to adapt to various audiences.
  • Accurate documentation of lab results and technical information.
  • Communicates/interfaces with other departments, develops relationships & influences others.
  • Communicates work progress, status, completion, issues and suggests solutions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
* Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment (without now or in the future needing sponsorship for employment work visa and/or permanent residence status).
* Bachelor's degree in a Engineering.
* Must be at least 18 years of age.
* 1 year in R&D or Operations field
* Basic math skills
* Basic knowledge of statistics and data analysis

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* BS/BA in Chemical Engineering
* 2 years in R&D or Operations field
* 2 years of architectural paint formulation or processing related field
* Project leadership/management experience
* Proven organization and planning skills
* Demonstrated flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances
* Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
* Design of Experiments, Minitab, Business Objects, DFSS, 6-Sigma Certification, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)

Travel Requirements: 20%
