Summary
Provides genetic education, counseling, and support to patients and/or families who have genetic disorders, birth defects, or who may be at risk for inherited conditions. Serves across the organization in several specialty clinics including general genetics clinic, metabolic clinic, bone marrow transplant clinic, cystic fibrosis clinic, hearing loss clinic, maternal fetal medicine, neurofibromatosis clinic, disorders of sexual development clinic, and more. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes Essential Functions -Evaluate the evidence for gene-disease associations -Collaborates and coordinates patient care with other disciplines and medical specialties -Assesses individual or family risk for a variety of inherited conditions, such as genetic disorders and birth defects. -Assist in development of patient consents, GC protocols, SOPs, and patient education materials. -Provide an accurate risk assessment based on data obtained. -Responds to relevant inquiries from patients, staff and physicians.
