Job Summary
The Classification Associate provides foundational support to the classification team by assisting with job description management, data entry, research, and coordination of classification activities. The associate assists with data collection, documentation, and preliminary analysis to support accurate position classification and the maintenance of job-related records.
Responsibilities
Job Duty 1 -
Assist in reviewing and formatting job descriptions for consistency, clarity, and alignment with classification standards; flag missing or inconsistent information for analyst follow-up. Job Duty 2 - Conduct preliminary job analyses and conduct straightforward research on classification standards and occupational benchmarks, such as reviewing published guidelines or collecting job data. Job Duty 3 - Enter and update classification and compensation data in HRIS; ensure records are accurate, current, and well-documented. Job Duty 4 - Maintain confidentiality and comply with agency policies and HR regulations. Job Duty 5 - Support classification audits by compiling data, scheduling meetings, preparing materials, and updating classification databases. Job Duty 6 - Respond to straightforward questions regarding job descriptions and classification status, such as requests for document copies or updates on classification processes. Job Duty 7 - Participate in training and shadow senior staff to learn classification procedures and best practices. Job Duty 8 - Contribute to process improvement initiatives by identifying inefficiencies in classification workflows and suggesting enhancements to documentation, templates, or data tracking systems. May coordinate with HR and departmental contacts to gather supplemental information needed for classification reviews and ensure timely follow-up on pending requests. Job Duty 10 - Perform various duties related to classification support as assigned, such as assisting with reports or organizing files. Required Qualifications
