Preparedness Alliance Project Coordinator

The Health Emergency Response Office (HERO) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Preparedness Alliance Project Manager. Qualified candidates will be experienced in areas of project management, group facilitation, evaluation and communications. Work is performed under supervision of the Deputy Director. This position is part of a grant-funded partnership lasting through June 2026 with the Minnesota Department of Health.

The purpose of the Preparedness Alliance Project is to develop and implement an engagement process between MDH and the MN health care systems and associations, to reflect on pandemic experiences and identify gaps and opportunities to be better prepared for a future coordinated response. Project goals are to 1) Identify gaps in coordination and communications in preparedness plans, 2) Strengthen understanding of equity and access within healthcare systems during a disaster, and 3) document inventory of successful processes during the Covid-19 response.

This is a temp casual, 14-hour or less per week position.

Duties and Essential Functions

Project Coordination (60%)

  • Support the Prep Alliance team in developing and implementing timelines and work plans to meet project objectives.
  • Communicate between project sponsor, stakeholders and team members to meet deadlines, provide status updates, and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Provide guidance and supervision to project team members for research and evaluation activities.

Meeting Facilitation (20%)

  • Work with project team and sponsors to design, develop and facilitate a series of inquiry convenings with healthcare partners and MDH on COVID response coordination efforts.
  • Work with MDH project team to plan meeting logistics.
  • Develop and disseminate convening materials and pre-work, including surveys.

Evaluation Activities (15%)

  • Along with other team members, conduct evaluation methods including surveys, key informant interviews and other methods to define and explore evaluation questions and topics.
  • Along with other team members, develop a plan for data analysis and management.
  • Engage stakeholders and MDH partners in action planning and report development of evaluation findings.

Other various tasks as assigned by the Deputy Director and other senior team members (5%)

  • Ability to lead projects, monitor deadlines, prioritize assignments, ensure deliverables are completed, and creatively problem-solve.

The Health Emergency Response Office (HERO) is responsible for the development of campus-level plans and procedures that address a variety of health incident and emergency scenarios.

Mission

Planning and Coordination
Ensure health incidents and emergencies affecting the University community are addressed in a timely, efficient, and effective manner.

Response Readiness
Coordinate health sciences personnel to assist in campus, local, state, or national health emergencies, and in so doing, provide unique experiential learning opportunities for students, staff, and faculty.

Continuity of Operations
Ensure minimal disruption to the University's clinical and health science research enterprises through well-informed and coordinated response efforts.

Teaching
Share public health and health emergency subject matter expertise through teaching and mentorship with undergraduate and graduate students.

Consultation
Provide public health and emergency response expertise through consultation and support to public health, healthcare, and emergency management partners at the local, state, and national levels.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $82/hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
