Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world's leading global law firms with offices in strategic hubs of commerce, law, and government across North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Pitches & Proposals Manager to join our Business Development team. Reporting to the Director of Pitches & Proposals, the Manager will play an integral role in driving firm growth and revenues through the development of winning client-focused pitches, strategy and best practices.

This position can be resident in any one of our Chicago, Los Angeles, Philadelphia or Washington, DC offices with a hybrid 3 day in-office working arrangement. This position is a long-term temporary contract opportunity.

Your Role

Strategic Pitch Development

  • Lead the development of high-priority cross-practice pitches, proposals, and panel RFPs across key industries and global regions.

  • Manage multiple RFP responses and pitches simultaneously, coordinating submissions across various channels, including online procurement portals (i.e., PERSUIT, Priori, etc.).

  • Collaborate closely with partners, lawyers, firm leadership and BD colleagues to craft compelling, client-centric narratives that highlight the firm's strengths and differentiators.

  • Translate technical legal expertise into persuasive, value-driven language tailored to each opportunity.

  • Develop and manage standard templates for pitches and proposals, including templates for cover letters, executive summaries, and follow-up communications.

Content, Systems & AI Innovation

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the firm's pitch generation and proposal automation software, ensuring content accuracy, organization and adoption across the BD team.

  • Lead the development and continued governance of the firm's content repository in SharePoint and Foundation, ensuring materials are current, categorized, and easily accessible to partners and BD colleagues.

Leadership, Collaboration & Training

  • Manage and mentor team members, effectively delegating responsibilities, and overseeing the quality of their work while successfully balancing and advancing own work deliverables.

  • Collaborate across various functional teams in support of meeting client deliverables and RFP requirements (e.g., Office of General Counsel, Business Operations, Due Diligence, etc.).

  • Provide coaching and training to junior team members and cross-functional colleagues on proposal development, writing, and process improvement.

Process & Quality Management

  • Develop and refine standardized templates for proposals, cover letters, executive summaries, and post-submission communications.

  • Identify and drive continuous improvement in proposal workflows-reducing turnaround times while maintaining precision, creativity, and impact.

  • Track and analyze monthly department-wide pitch data to identify trends, measure effectiveness and inform strategic decision-making leading to improved win rates.

Who We're Looking For

  • A proven professional with strong strategic thinking and execution skills, with a minimum of 5 years of demonstrable pitch, panel RFP and/or practice generation experience.

  • Experience in professional services, preferably in a law firm environment, with the ability to work across time zones and with global team (as needed).

  • Legal business development and marketing experience highly desired.

  • Ability to prioritize work and handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced and evolving environment.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence, collaborate, and build trusted relationships.

  • A creative eye and ability to think outside of the box to developing tailored, client-centered narratives. Graphic design experience, at any level, is a valuable plus.

  • A data-driven mind set with strong financial acumen, analytical, and project management and ability to translate insights into actionable strategies.

  • Very strong knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams.

  • Self-starter and entrepreneurial spirit, yet highly collaborative in working with colleagues across departments, offices, and skill levels.

  • Experience with proposal generation software a plus.

  • Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university

For positions in Chicago, IL, the salary range for this job posting is: $109,300.00 - $174,775.00.

For positions in Los Angeles, CA the salary range for this job posting is: $119,200.00 - $190,675.00.

For positions in Washington, DC, the salary range for this job posting is: $114,200.00 - $182,750.00.

The base salary or hourly wage range for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors. The final salary or hourly wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances. Additionally, salary or hourly wages may be only part of the total compensation package. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, the employee will be in an "at-will position" and the firm reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, firm or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
