Summary:A seafoodRefrigerationMechanicis responsible formaintainingand repairing refrigeration systems used in seafood processing and storage facilities. This includes troubleshooting and diagnosing issues, performing regular maintenance tasks, and ensuring that the refrigeration systems areoperatingefficiently and effectively. The mechanic may also be involved in installing new refrigeration equipment and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Strong knowledge of refrigeration systems, electrical components, and troubleshooting techniques is essential for this role. The seafood refrigeration mechanic plays a crucial role in preserving the quality and freshness of seafood products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conductsregular maintenance tasks on refrigeration systems used in seafood processing and storage facilities.This includes inspecting, cleaning, and lubricating components, as well as replacing worn-out parts.

  • Troubleshootsand diagnosesrefrigerationissuestoidentifyand resolve any malfunctions or breakdowns.

  • Assistsin the installation of new refrigeration equipment, ensuring proper placement, connection, and calibration. This may involve working with other technicians or contractors to ensure the system is installed correctly and meets safety and regulatory standards.

  • Monitorsthe performance of refrigeration systems to ensure they areoperatingefficiently and effectively. This includes checking temperature and pressure levels,monitoringenergy consumption, andidentifyingany abnormalities or potential issues.

  • Ensurescompliance with safety regulations and environmental standards related to refrigeration systems. This includes following proper procedures for handling refrigerants,maintainingaccuraterecords, and adhering to safety protocols to prevent accidents or environmental harm.

  • Maintainsaccuraterecords of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections. This includes documenting any issues or concerns, recording completed tasks, and generating reports asrequired.

  • Collaborateswith other team members, such as seafood processing staff or facility managers, to understand their needs and address any refrigeration-related concerns. Effective communication skills are essential for providing updates, explaining technical issues, and coordinating maintenance schedules.

  • Assistswithadditionalmaintenancemechanic duties as time allows.

  • Performsrepairs and replacements of faulty parts to minimize downtime andmaintainproduction efficiency.

  • Adheresto safety protocols and regulations while working with machinery and equipment.

  • Identifiesopportunities for process improvement and suggestsmodifications to enhance equipment performance.

  • Staysupdated with industry trends and advancements in seafood processing equipment to provide effective maintenance solutions.

  • Conducts thorough testing and precise adjustments of equipment to meet and exceed performance specifications.

  • Performsminor building maintenance tasks.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.

  • Acquiresknowledge of Trident's Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activitiesin accordance withtraining and procedures/work instructions.

  • Notifiesdesignated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented,in accordance withEnvironmental Awareness and/or safety trainings.

This is a nonexempt position with an hourly rate of $35.45to $37.70per hour.

Minimum Requirements

MinimumQualifications:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent

  • EPA 608 Certification - Type II or Universal

  • HVAC/R Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven experience inrefrigerationmaintenance, preferably ina seafoodprocessing or related industry.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.

The employee is frequently required to climb or balance.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee isfrequentlyexposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extremecold. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Special Training/Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules,operatingand maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Ability towriteroutine reports andcorrespondence;and ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees oforganization. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; and able to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to operate a variety of hand tools to include the following: welding machines, cutting torches, and power tools including but not limitedtopipe or tube cutters, power drills, power saws, pullers, wrenches, screw drivers, sockets, ratchets, grinders, pry bars, hammers, punches, measuring devices, and chisels.
