LFS, Inc. was established in 1967 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Trident Seafoods. Our corporate headquarters is in Bellingham, WA and we have three year-round locations in Washington State: Bellingham, Seattle, and Poulsbo. LFS also has five year-round locations in Alaska: Anchorage, Cordova, Dutch Harbor, Homer (Kachemak Gear Shed), and Sitka; and twoseasonal locations in Dillingham and Naknek. While our core business is supplying the commercial fishing industry, we have evolved to include industrial and sports netting sales, hydraulic sales and services, wholesale/industrial sales, recreational marine and outdoor sales, and internet sales.

Summary:

LFS is seeking a Purchasing Assistant to facilitate the logistics of our international shipments. (Import and Export) Also responsible for purchasing products from domestic suppliers. This role is crucial in ensuring that all shipments are processed efficiently and comply with legal requirements. This is an in-office position at our corporate office in Bellingham, WA.

Essential functions (responsibilities, tasks, supervisory needs)

  • Determine the purchasing requirements for overseas vendors as well as assigned domestic suppliers.
  • Create and transmit purchase orders for assigned vendors.
  • Compliance with US Customs regulations in relation to all Imports and Exports
  • Maintain accurate files for Import and export shipments according to US Customs regulations.
  • Create and maintain SOPs for Import and Export compliance programs for LFS.
  • Accurately process all Import Purchase orders.
  • Monitor and update C-TPAT (Customs Trade partnership against terrorism) program with US Customs, for more timely deliveries of Import products.
  • Manage Import entries with Customs brokers for accurate payment of duties.
  • Submit ISF (Importer security filing) to US Customs for Every Import shipment.
  • Review and approve (or reject) all Export orders for US Customs Compliance.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with US Customs.
  • Continuing Education - Attend Customs Seminars for both Import and Export regulation changes as needed.
  • Execute Purchase orders to Foreign Vendors as needed.
  • Maintain close working relationship with all foreign Vendors.
  • Audit paperwork for all Import Receiving into Inventory.
  • Process the payment of all Import Invoices.
  • Review and Approve freight invoices and brokerage invoices pertaining to all Import and Export shipments for payment.
  • Process cost updates as needed for assigned vendors.
  • Cultivate close working relationships with all sales divisions and store managers.
  • Negotiate International and domestic carrier rates and services for Import shipments.

Pay range for this position is $25-$30 per hour.

Minimum Requirements

Required Qualifications (education, years of experience, KSAs)

  • Bachelor's degree with focus in Supply Chain, Purchasing, Operations, Business or Finance
  • Professional level / 3-5 years of experience or equivalent education in related field
  • Strong understanding of import/export regulations.

Preferred education and experience

  • Experience with C-TPAT program with US Customs.
  • Experience with submitting ISF to US Customs
  • College or Vocational degree in International Trade/Purchasing.

Work environment:Office environment, the noise level in the work environment is typically low.

Physical demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a keyboard and telephone.
