Summary:
The Director of Cardiopulmonary and Hospitalist Services at Southern Maine Health Care (SMHC) is a key management and leadership position within the organization. This position will ensure excellent delivery of clinical operations, achieve excellence in patient care, support open and efficient access to the Hospital services and ensure safe, effective patient flow. The Director will ensure that operations are compliant with regulatory requirements, will adhere to budgetary guidelines and are in keeping with the Core Values of the organization. This position, partnering with the Physician Service Line Leader, has responsibility for, but not limited to, service line and departmental planning, creating a strategic growth plan, business development, managing direct reports, development as it relates to the capital and operating budget including: product-line development, budget calculations, report analysis and expense monitoring. The Director reports to the COO.The Director leads, directs, integrates and coordinates the Cardiopulmonary Services Line at both medical centers as well as testing at the practices, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation programs and the Interventional/Cardiac Cath lab and assists in ensuring the clinical practices are consistently high in regards to levels of clinical and professional services provided.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree required, masters preferred.
  2. License/Certifications: RN or other professional license in a related clinical field preferred.
  3. Experience: Five years of experience in area of expertise including a minimum of 2-3 years in a management role. Pertinent clinical experience in the cardiopulmonary field. Office practice management experience preferred.
  4. Strong customer service skills
  5. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective relationships with nursing staff, physicians, executives, staff members and the public.
  6. Able to think creatively, analytically and conceptually for planning, organizing and coordinating a major functional area.
  7. Systems thinker and strong change management skills.
