CLASS) seeks a Program Coordinator to play an essential role in advancing student achievement and supporting the unit's student-centered mission. This position contributes to the effective daily operations of
CLASS and ensures that students have access to high-quality academic resources and services.
The program coordinator leads the recruitment, hiring, training, and supervision of peer tutors; manages early alerts and faculty referrals; and coordinates targeted academic interventions that support student learning and retention. As a key resource for students seeking academic support, the program coordinator provides information on available services, oversees appointment management, and monitors the use of
CLASS facilities.
This role is responsible for developing and organizing tutor training in alignment with College Reading & Learning Association (
CRLA) standards; maintaining certification and assessment documentation; and preparing statistical reports that inform program effectiveness and continuous improvement. The program coordinator also provides support to the Course Assistant/Supplemental Instruction Program and Emerging Scholars programs.
Additional responsibilities include organizing
CLASS workshops and programming, collaborating with campus partners to enhance student support, and representing the Center at campus and community events.

Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. - Experience in academic support services or student success programs, preferably in a higher education setting.
- Ability to plan and deliver workshops and programming activities that promote student engagement and academic success.
- Strong work ethic, with effective organizational and time management skills to coordinate multiple activities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working with students, tutors, faculty, and staff.
- Experience supervising student employees or peer tutors.
- Proficiency in data management and reporting, including maintaining accurate records and preparing statistical reports.
- Problem-solving and intervention skills to address student learning concerns and coordinate appropriate support.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in supporting students from a variety of backgrounds.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn other campus systems (Navigate, Smartsheet, Outlook, Qualtrics, Canva, social media).
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Familiarity with CRLA guidelines and best practices in tutor training and certification.
- Experience with early alert systems and academic intervention strategies.
- Knowledge of supplemental instruction models and tutoring programs.
- Experience with Navigate360 and learning management systems (Canvas).
