Staff Research Associate I/II Surgery Full Time 87280BR Job Summary The Staff Research Associate I/ II NEX will support the research studies of the Principal Investigator in understanding how the neonatal liver maintains a regulatory environment. This position will also include assistance with ordering, coordinating lab maintenance duties, and working closely with Dr. Nijagal to maintain the various protocols in the lab. All applicants with a relevant background may apply, but a priority will be given to applicants with a proven cell and molecular biology background. This is an outstanding opportunity to learn a variety of molecular biology and immunology techniques, perform tissue culture, assist in the care of animals, and learn about small animal surgery. This role is important for our laboratory as we continue to expand our scientific efforts to study the regulatory immune responses in the liver and the interplay between epithelial damage and changes to hematopoietic stem and progenitor cell function. Our lab was recently awarded a $3.7 million award from the NIH to understand the neonatal liver's immunoregulatory environment and additional personnel are needed to carry out these experiments. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $28.04 - $45.09 (Hourly Rate).
