Description

  • This position assists children the basic techniques of low/high ropes, and archery. Must be able to pass the certifications for high ropes, low ropes, and archery as well as CPR/FA. This position is responsible to ensure safe spotting of campers participating in the ropes activities.
  • Strictly enforce the safety guidelines. Ensures the upkeep of assigned activity area, confirming that all areas are safe and well maintained. Ensures that all equipment is well maintained and safe for use. Report any malfunctions or potentially dangerous conditions of equipment. Maintain the archery tackle, bows, arrows, targets, etc., keeping the closet and target area neat and organized Facilitates the upkeep of assigned activity area, ensuring that all areas are safe and well maintained.
  • Develop and write lesson plans with clear goals that are clearly tied to the activity focus area and are intentional in purpose. Develop and lead activities for the activity focus area that are creative, dynamic, fun and safe for campers of all ages and abilities.
  • Works closely with staff to adapt activities so each participant is able to fully engage. Outfits participants with correct safety equipment, makes adjustments, and properly attaches equipment per certification training.
  • Works with the Director, Melwood Recreation Center, Program Director, Camps and Retreats, Day Camp Manager and Challenge Course/Adventure Supervisor to develop new activities and programs that are inclusive and therapeutic for participants of all abilities. Assist the Director, MRC,PD, Day Camp Manager, Challenge Course/Adventure Supervisor and other staff in the coordination and facilitation of programs for all camp participants.
  • Create a positive nurturing environment to encourage children to participate in new activities. Mentor children to be their best selves.
