Overview

How you can make a difference

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading the coordination, planning, documentation, and management of medium to complex projects from initiation to delivery. This role oversees multiple internal and external projects, ensuring all scope, quality, budget, and scheduling requirements are met. The position requires broad experience and the ability to resolve complex issues using professional judgment and alignment with company objectives. The Senior Project Manager collaborates with cross-functional leaders and subject matter experts to achieve project goals and deadlines. The role also drives process improvements, fosters a culture of continuous improvement, and ensures consistent communication of project status across the organization.

What you'll be doing

    • Project Management:
    • Develops project charters that define scope and objectives for medium to complex projects, from initiation to delivery. This entails interfacing with organizational leaders to define scope to meet objectives, develop project schedules, develop capacity and resource requirements and establish project success criteria.
    • Drives the project life cycle, including preparing, maintaining, and updating project plans, agendas, and system setups. This includes determining project steps, activities, sequence of events, dependencies, managing project risks, and the duration of tasks by engaging various levels of the organization and subject matter experts. On a regular basis, updates the project plan and provides to project leadership.
    • Identifies and acquires appropriate resources needed, ensuring availability as necessary for project deliverables. Manages resources within respective departments, other internal departments, outside service providers. This may include collaboration with functional department managers to assemble project teams.
    • Serves as a central point of contact to routinely relay, facilitate and keep stakeholders apprised of the project's status and respond to questions or inquiries regarding the project. Maintains open communications and relationships with the project team, coordinating and conducting meetings as appropriate. Conducts risk assessment of strategic, technical, financial, or business factors affecting the project. Monitors project deliverables and progress through the duration of the project plan, managing deviations as appropriate, including project scope. Identifies factors jeopardizing the project and escalates issues as appropriate, recommending solutions to senior project team members and leaders.
    • Conducts post-project reviews (retrospectives) with participation and guidance from management team to capture learnings and identify areas for future improvement and updates to project and program methodology.
    • Service Excellence:
    • Analyze current business processes and identify areas for improvement, waste elimination and cost reduction.
    • Design and implement strategies to enhance productivity and operational efficiency.
    • Lead and facilitate continuous improvement workshops and prioritization of improvements.
    • Collect and analyze performance data to monitor effectiveness of improvement initiatives. Prepares reports and presents progress to senior leadership.
    • Implementation of future state process improvements.

What you will need to be successful

  • Education and Experience:
    * Typically requires a minimum of 8-10+ years experience as a Project Manager.
    * Project Management Professional (PMP) certification required, Lean Six Sigma (LSS) preferred
    * Bachelor's degree in related field; or equivalent work experience.
    * Knowledge of and familiarity with the benefits industry is preferred.
    * Knowledge of Service and Operations functions and their interrelationships within an organization.

  • Specialized Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    * Able to gain trust and support with both internal and external stakeholders independent of reporting structure.
    * Able to persuade others by understanding their needs and perspectives and ability to build a compelling case for solving the problem, issue, or task at hand.
    * Awareness of other's styles and adjust accordingly.
    * Brings together the appropriate audience for problem-solving, planning and decision making and adeptly drives cross functional collaboration.
    * Demonstrates an elevated level of business acumen and executive presence.
    * Comfortable with ambiguity while able to see the full picture and understand the project/problem.
    * Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, guide and lead others and provide direction.
    * The ability to handle multiple tasks/priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    * Proficiency in continuous improvement tools and frameworks such as DMAIC and process mapping.

Salary Range

$80,000.00 To $111,000.00 / year
