Overview

This is a remote role that may be hired in several markets across the United States.

This role is responsible for overseeing Financial & Regulatory Reporting as an Enterprise Control Function, reporting directly to the Director of Operational Risk Oversight. The Second Line Operational Risk Oversight team covers critical non-revenue generating corporate functions and is structured by risk category. Each horizontal category (i.e., Fraud, Payments, Human Capital Management, Process Delivery & Execution, and Financial & Regulatory Reporting) is covered by a seasoned and senior individual contributor.


Responsibilities

  • Develop & Execute Coverage Model - Continuously enhances coverage of First Line activities, including programmatic effective challenge (via Enterprise Issues Management, Operational Risk Events, Enterprise Change Oversight, Risk and Control Self Assessments, etc.) and targeted review of in-scope processes
  • Measure Control Effectiveness & Risk Appetite - Develop clear and quantifiable drivers to monitor and measure the effectiveness of the control environment within Financial & Regulatory Reporting, as well as partner with the First Line on a basket of Key Risk Indicators to support the overall assessment of the risk stripe
  • Own a Delegated Compliance Oversight Function - Partner with Corporate Compliance via Compliance Risk Oversight Coverage Agreements to provide oversight of laws, rules, and regulations applicable to the Controller and External Reporting (e.g., Accounting Standards, SOX requirements, SEC rules, etc.)
  • Build Productive Relationships - Partner with the Business Risk & Control advisory and program teams in the First Line to oversee the risk-taking activities in a productive and positive way
  • Be a Team Player - Support the Director of Operational Risk Oversight by executing on the work, providing thoughtful and grounded input to committee reporting and ad hoc requests, and leveraging First Citizens India support to increase output and maintain efficiencies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience in Enterprise Risk or Operational Risk, and Project Management or Internal/External Consulting OR High School Diploma or GED and 10 years of experience in Enterprise Risk or Operational Risk, and Project Management or Internal/External Consulting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience in oversight of risks related to external reporting for LFIs/G-SIBs
  • Management Consulting experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and build productive relationships with key stakeholders across the firm
  • Expertise in applicable laws, rules, and regulations

The base pay for this position is generally between $145,000 and $165,000. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
