Assistant Professor of Medicine at the CUMC

The Division of Endocrinology in the Department of Medicine at Columbia University Irving Medical Center invites applications for a faculty position in Transplant Endocrinology at the Assistant Professor level. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a world-class academic medical center and contribute to innovative clinical care in a rapidly evolving subspecialty.

Position Overview

The successful candidate will develop a dual-track program, according to which about 50% effort will be devoted to lead a general endocrinology subspecialty outpatient practice, enhancing access to high-quality endocrine care for a diverse patient population; and at least 50% will be devoted to advancing a primarily inpatient-based in endocrinology care throughout the kidney and pancreas transplant continuum, with a particular focus on the immediate peri-transplant period for both inpatients and outpatients. Additional responsibilities include the evaluation of potential kidney donors at risk for endocrine complications and providing collaborative care for patients in the Pancreas Transplant Program.

Key Responsibilities



  • Develop a thriving outpatient subspecialty practice in endocrinology
  • Provide expert inpatient and outpatient endocrinology consultations, with emphasis on transplant-related care
  • Evaluate and manage transplant recipients and living donors, ensuring early identification and treatment of endocrine disorders
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams-including nephrology, surgery, and transplant medicine-to optimize patient outcomes
  • Contribute to program development within the Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Programs


  • MD degree required
  • Board certified or board eligible in Endocrinology
  • Eligible for medical licensure in the State of New York
  • Subspecialty expertise in insulin pump therapy and/or continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) technologies is highly desirable but not required
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care, interdisciplinary collaboration, and academic excellence
