The School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, located on the George H. Cook Campus, is one of the largest schools of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. We pursue excellence in research, teaching, and outreach in areas of study that address the biological spectrum from molecules to ecosystems. Our emphasis is on both the fundamental sciences and the social and human dimensions. We offer 21 undergraduate majors, including plant and animal sciences, microbiology, biotechnology, agriculture and food systems, landscape architecture, food and nutritional sciences, ecology and evolution, marine science and oceanography, environmental
sciences and meteorology, human ecology, entomology, and environmental economics.
The New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station (
NJAES) is an integral component of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. The experiment station provides a diverse range of research, extension, and education programs that serve the people of New Jersey and the urban, suburban, and rural communities in which they live. Through its Cooperative Extension offices in all 21 New Jersey counties, dedicated 4-H Agents, Extension Specialists, Family & Community Health Sciences educators, and Agriculture and Natural Resources agents work to serve New Jersey residents in every area of the state. |

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a part-time Rutgers Master Gardener Coordinator for Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Bergen County (County Administration Building, 4th Floor, Hackensack NJ).
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Provides administrative support for the coordination and operation of the county Rutgers Master Gardener (RMG) Program.
- Coordinates and supervises educational outreach activities (educational workshops, demonstrations, training programs, volunteer opportunities) for the Rutgers Master Gardener program.
- Serves as liaison to RMG Volunteer Committee in Bergen County.
- Participates in appropriate Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Bergen County committees and programs as requested.

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution preferably in plant science, horticulture, ornamental horticulture, entomology, horticultural therapy, plant pathology, agricultural science or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Two years of related work experience, including volunteer activities in horticulture, landscape management, ornamental horticulture, agriculture, pest management, vocational education or related subjects.

- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and organizational skills.
- Effective public speaking, presentation, and demonstration skills.
- Must be well-organized and skilled at problem solving.

- Demonstrated initiative as a self-starter, and ability to perform routine job activities.

- Bilingual in Spanish.
- NJ Pesticide Applicator license.
- Managerial experience as it relates to volunteer management.
- Experience with online course management software.

- Laptop computers.
