Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Academic Coach for the Office of Academic Success at Rutgers School of Nursing. The Academic Coach will provide academic support to the School of Nursing Students on the Blackwood Campus and participate in the academic coaching schedule across all nursing campuses. The position will be responsible for the development and delivery of workshops and resources to assist students in developing critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills. As part of the Office of Academic Success team, this position will contribute to delivery of OAS services. This position will coach students individually or in groups.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Participates in resource development and the creation of academic coaching tools and workshops with a focus on transfer pathways and pre-nursing.
  • Participates in the weekly Academic Coaching schedule for all School of Nursing Campuses.
  • Engages in regular meetings with the Office of Academic Success Team and relevant committee work as assigned.
  • Delivers academic success workshops across all School of Nursing campuses.
  • Engages weekly through class visits to promote services and provide timely learning strategy information to match course demands.
  • Develops and monitors benchmarks, tracks use of services, and follows individual student progression through the curriculum.
  • Participates in the planning and implementation of study groups; working with faculty for resources related to course material and coordinating with peer and alumni tutors.
  • Takes part in the development of quiet and group study space for tutoring sessions on the Blackwood campus.
  • Participates in regular meetings with the Office of Academic Success team.

FLSA Nonexempt
Salary Details $35/hourly

Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.
The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through January 31, 2026. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Qualifications






Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing and a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience in an administrative and/or supervisory function.

  • Ability to use different teaching methods and to transmit information in a manner that is accessible and understandable to students.
  • Ability to analyze complex student-related matters accurately, draw valid conclusions, and propose various alternative courses of action.

  • Ability to establish and keep cooperative working relationships with students, staff, faculty, and other members of the university community.
