Job Description A leading fiber telecommunications provider delivers internet, data transport, and related services to carriers, businesses, schools, hospitals, and other enterprises in the Midwest. * Shift: Night shift - Training will occur during day hours until fully onboarded * Schedule: 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM, Monday through Friday Position Purpose The NOC Technician provides customer support and monitors network elements, performance, and facilities. This role works closely with Field Operations and NOC Engineers to coordinate, diagnose, and resolve issues promptly. Candidates must have strong communication skills, the ability to work across multiple systems, and manage multiple tickets simultaneously. Overnight shift work is required, and hours may change based on department needs. Primary Responsibilities * Collaborate with carriers, vendors, internal teams, and customers to troubleshoot impairments and outages * Manage and document trouble tickets * Troubleshoot DWDM, MPLS, and SONET network equipment * Read and interpret CLR/DLRs * Resolve faults remotely using Network Management Systems (NMS) * Monitor network performance after maintenance and changes * Work with Operations and Engineering for quick circuit activation * Provide network assistance to Data Center technicians * Communicate ticket updates and technical support to customers * Interpret and implement MOPs for network changes and upgrades Skills and Abilities * Familiarity with trouble ticketing systems * Strong customer service skills * Knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies * Understanding of DWDM and MPLS fundamentals * Ability to work flexible schedules in a 24x7 environment * Ability to work independently and in teams with minimal guidance * Ability to multitask and maintain composure under pressure * Experience with Nokia, ADVA, Ekinops, and MRV equipment (preferred) * Knowledge of fiber optic fundamentals (preferred) * Experience with circuit testing procedures and test equipment (preferred) Technical Skills * NOC operations * Network troubleshooting * LAN/WAN * Fiber optic cabling * Cisco routers and switches * MPLS, DWDM, SONET * TCP/IP * Network monitoring * CCNA certification (preferred) Education & Experience * High school diploma or equivalent * Minimum 1 year in telecommunications or equivalent technical training * Minimum 1 year experience in an NOC environment (preferred) Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Kansas City, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
