Pay From: $24 Per Hour

MUST:

The Hospital Financial Coordinator needs to have the following:

5+ years of financial experience in a hospital setting

Coordinating financial aspects of clinical care and ensuring authorizations prior to evaluations and procedures

Experience in the transplant field a plus

Completing benefit checks for patients referred for advanced therapy evaluation

Working with various insurance companies as well as Medicare to authorize evaluations and procedures

Strong insurance knowledge and experience collecting labs and procedure results to send to payors to support the pre-authorization process

Ensuring prescription coverage

Educating insurance reps as to why there is a necessity of care

Handling financial clearance prior to procedures and evaluations

Ability to answer financial clearance questions

Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare, Healthcare Administration, Nursing or Social Work

DUTIES:

The Duties of the Hospital Financial Coordinator include but are not limited to the following:

Complete insurance benefit checks for Advanced Therapy evaluations

Verify transplant coverage and other medical benefits

Obtain detailed patient insurance benefit information for all aspects of the process

Ensure and verify prescriptions coverage as well as coverage for follow-up visits and testing and travel and lodging

Identify out-of-pocket expenses

Obtain required authorizations and referrals prior to scheduled testing, procedures and hospital admissions

Provide support to patients regarding financial issues

Advise patients of available government programs

Work with clinical coordinators to obtain required paperwork and documentation to complete and obtain authorizations

Serves as a resource and provides information regarding reimbursement criteria

Provide detailed information to insurance company representatives regarding the necessity for care and discuss complex, clinical information

Act as the liaison to Patient Financial Services including insurance companies, case managers, professional staff and providers
