Responsible for assisting the Manager with the planning, preparing, and serving quality meals that meet the standards and expectations of the older adult population within the Sienna Crest Assisted Living, Inc.

The Cook is responsible for completing the AM & PM food preparation, serving, storing and other kitchen functions for the Home as follows:

1) Planning Meals for Residents:

a. Prepare food according to the monthly menu program supplied by Corporate. Ensure that the special dietary requirements of resident's are met, per their Individual Service Plan.

b. Assistant Cook will observe and follow the current and accurate chart of resident food and beverage preferences and dislikes.

2) Grocery Management:

a. Communicate grocery needs to the Meal Coordinator, for incorporation in the weekly shopping list.

b. Assist Meal Coordinator with the shelving and storing of all groceries/supplies when received from vendors.

3) Meal Preparation:

a. Ensure the proper handling and utilization of all foods to prevent contamination. Prepare all food according to the "approved" menu in a safe and sanitary manner.

b. Prepare meals for Home in a timely manner, ensuring that food has good taste, smell, and appearance, which will encourage residents to eat appropriately.

c. Ensure proper preparation, proportioning and serving of foods according to standardized recipes.

d. Effective utilization of leftovers and oversupplies.

e. Ensure all food is labeled and dated according to State regulations.

4) Kitchen Management:

a. Responsible for ensuring the continual cleanliness of dishes, utensils, cooking equipment and machinery.

b. Responsible for ensuring that Kitchen is always clean and meets regulatory standards. Follows established cleaning and sanitation schedules.
