We offer locals and visitors an opportunity to experience breathtaking Alaska scenery, explore the miles of trails atop Mount Roberts, and learn more about Alaska Native culture.

Summary

The Service & Cafe Manager will be responsible for the coordination of the concession stands, front-of-house staff and catering operations including dining room service, setup and service of catering events, and catering sales.

We're excited to share that the job is based in beautiful Juneau, Alaska! We kindly ask that all applicants either live in Juneau or be open to relocating at their own expense.

Pay and Benefits:

Seasonal Employees are eligible for the Seasonal Employee Layoff Bonus Plan. The plan is designed to provide an effective means to motivate and compensate eligible seasonal employees during the term of their assignment. However, Goldbelt, Inc. may, in certain limited circumstances, grant discretionary performance bonuses outside of this program, in the sole discretion of the Company.

Goldbelt, Inc. hopes that by providing short-term incentive compensation, this will motivate and increase the retention rate among its employees which in turn will enhance Goldbelt Inc.'s long-term value.

Starting Rate: $28.00 - DOE


Responsibilities

Job Duties

  • Implement workflow procedures as directed by the F&B Manager and Director of Sales & Service.
  • Conduct scheduled inventories and ensure proper administrative processes are followed. Input weekly invoices and update pricing to maintain accurate food and beverage costs.
  • Drive catering sales growth by developing appealing menu packages, building client relationships, and promoting services for private events, tour groups, and corporate functions.
  • Manage front-of-house and concession stand scheduling to meet budgeted labor targets.
  • Ensure service team members are trained to deliver exceptional hospitality and create memorable guest experiences through interactive dining, and promotion of specialty/signature items.
  • Collaborate with the Food & Beverage team to develop and execute new service and menu initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local food sanitation and safety regulations; stay current on laws and guidelines and communicate updates to staff.
  • Assist in recruiting, selecting, and developing a high-performing service team that understands the importance of value, guest satisfaction, and retention.
  • Lead, coach, and retain team members by setting clear performance expectations and providing ongoing feedback.
  • Ensure proper security procedures are in place to safeguard employees, guests, and company assets.
  • Monitor and respond to customer feedback, trends, and concerns to continuously improve the guest experience and support future sales growth.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge

  • Passionate about food & beverage
  • Knowledge of food & beverage operations, a strong leader and a proven track record in guest and team member engagement
  • Thorough knowledge of the practices and techniques of restaurant cooking, food presentation and storage, including seafood handling; all kitchen equipment and appliances; and sanitary food requirements/codes
  • Ability to make decisions based on established policy and procedures
  • Ability to immediately identify operational and service problems and initiate resolutions, and handle all complaints quickly and efficiently, in the guests' best interests
  • Excellent customer service/guest relations, communications, and interpersonal skills
  • Skill in operating personal computer utilizing a variety of computer software.
  • Strong organizational skills: ability to work productively, skillfully and under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other employees
  • Ability to meet time and attendance requirements.
  • Ability to work all different shifts including days, evenings, holidays and weekends.
  • Ability to handle stress under pressure.
  • Ability to provide quality customer service.
  • Able to communicate verbally and understand and follow written and verbal instruction.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other employees.
  • Ability to work directly with the public, providing information and assistance on a daily basis.
  • Ability/willingness to learn and pass on to guests those areas of interest to visitors, such as local history, people, culture, geography, etc.
  • Some knowledge of basic cleaning principles, equipment and products.
  • Detail oriented.

Minimum Qualifications (education, experience, skills)

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum three (3) or more years' experience related field in the food & beverage, retail or hospitality fields
  • Ability to obtain a Training for Alcohol Professionals (TAP) card.
  • Ability to successfully obtain and maintain Food Handlers Manager certificationwithin the first 30 days
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check

Preferrred Qualifications (education, experience, skills)

  • Associate's degree
  • Ability to lead staff presentations and training forums
  • STAR Service Certification, STAR Trainer Certification, and CPR Certification preferred
  • Working knowledge of Point of Sales Systems, cash collection, bookkeeping procedures, labor laws, union contract language, liquor laws, purchasing requirements; customer and product forecasting
  • Ability to create staff prevention trainings
  • Ability to organize and lead meetings
