Job Summary

The Division Administrator (DA) of the Alliance Health Project (AHP) is accountable for all daily aspects of program management, operational management, personnel management, and facilities management. The DA should have working knowledge of fiscal management and contracts and grants administration. The DA participates on the management team and provides leadership, support, and administrative infrastructure for the Division and its programs; develops and implements strategic planning to further AHP's expanded mission, in research, teaching, and client care.

The DA supervises the Administrative and Operations Unit, comprised of two direct reports and three indirect report UCSF staff; the DA also supervises the UCSF / Office of AIDS division within the California Department of Public Health team which includes five direct reports. This staff handles personnel, operations and information systems and data oversight for all programs. The DA works closely with the finance supervisor to strategize fiscal and contract operations, with an annual budget of $14 million. The DA will spend the majority of their time supervising, improving, modifying, problem-solving or maintaining workflow and systems that their staff work within.

The DA is instrumental in facilitating Alliance Health Project (AHP) to continue its range of HIV and LGBTQ+ care services.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $143,900 - $215,800 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The Alliance Health Project (AHP) provides a wide range of mental health services to persons living with HIV/AIDS, as well as members of the LGBTQ community living with serious mental health challenges. AHP also provides publications and trainings for health care professionals and volunteers. Since AHP's founding in 1984, AHP has served thousands of clients, counselors and clinicians, justifying its reputation as one of the leading HIV and LGBTQ mental health agencies in San Francisco -- a reputation achieved by anticipating and addressing the challenges of the communities AHP serves.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or a public health field and 8+ years of related work experience or a combination of comparable clinical education and/or experience. At least 5 years in a supervisory/lead/management role
  • Broad knowledge of the organization's processes, protocols and procedures with a focus on operations, human resources, personnel management under labor contract(s) and personnel policy. Req
  • Ability to supervise an administrative and technical team to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong knowledge of abstraction and collection of patient data, QI systems, external regulations, analytics and reporting
  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to apply analytical and critical thinking skills to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate level of intervention, and apply effective solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively convey complex clinical and technical information both verbally and in writing, the ability to train and mentor direct reports, and to prepare and present various reports, documentation, analyses, and project proposals
  • Working knowledge of business software and specialized applications and data management systems used in quality and performance improvement processes
  • Broad knowledge of common organization-specific and other computer application programs
  • Demonstrated management and conflict resolution skills to effectively lead and motivate others
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and database software, preferably Access
  • Experience with DEI principles and prior experience applying them in the work setting
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and demonstrated project management abilities
  • Strong working knowledge in contracts and grants
  • Prior experience collaborating with DPH, DPH contracts, and relevant systems of care

Preferred Qualifications


  • Master's degree in business, healthcare administration, public health or related field
  • Prior work experience with HIV, LGBTQ+, and BIPOC communities
  • Prior UCSF, other UC campus experience or CCSF experience
  • Knowledge of UCSF Government Business Contracts, Research Management Services
