Fishbeck is seeking a full-time Construction Inspector to join our Civil Field team. In this role, you'll perform field observation and documentation for roadway and bridge projects with the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), as well as municipal utility projects. This position requires flexibility, travel, and working outdoors. It's a great opportunity to gain experience on diverse projects and grow your career in field inspection.


What You'll Do


  • Prepare detailed Daily Work Reports (DWRs) documenting work status, materials, and jobsite conditions.
  • Complete calculations, sketches, and forms per INDOT specifications.
  • Read and interpret complex plans, specifications, and shop drawings; verify construction compliance.
  • Communicate non-compliance issues to senior staff and assist with Requests for Information.
  • Serve as liaison between contractors and senior technicians/engineers to resolve constructability issues.
  • Collaborate with project teams, including engineers, technicians, survey staff, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Work closely with senior technicians and engineers to ensure proper execution of project designs.


What We're Looking For


  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Concrete Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • INDOT Certified Technician program completion or a bachelor's degree in construction management or civil engineering.
  • 2+ years of related experience.
  • Familiarity with highway construction specifications and previous field experience.
  • Experience with concrete, asphalt, earthwork, and utility construction inspection/testing, including Dynamic Cone Penetrometer, Lightweight Deflectometer, and aggregate gradations.
  • Preferred certifications: ACI Grade I, material sampling and testing.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office; familiarity with Bluebeam, PlanGrid, and digital inspection platforms (AASHTOWare, Appia) is a plus.
  • Experience with survey equipment including GPS or Arrow Systems is a plus.
