Willdan Lighting & Electric, a subsidiary of Willdan Group Inc., is seeking a skilled Business Intelligence Developer with experience designing reporting and dashboarding experiences, using AI tools effectively and working directly with stakeholders on requirements. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining reports, dashboards, and data visualizations to support client and business needs with an understanding of how to use data to create actionable insights. Knowledge and experience with data warehouses, data lakes and lake houses required. The role also includes proactively developing AI agents and automated intelligence workflows to enhance operational standards, streamline processes, and improve reporting and data management efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain reports and dashboards using Microsoft BI tools, Power BI, Fabric.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to gather report requirements and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Create ETL streams from transactional data into the required formats data management
  • Create visually appealing and easy-to-understand data visualizations that effectively communicate insights.
  • Optimize report performance and data accuracy by collaborating with the stakeholders and developers.
  • Enhance internal knowledge and understanding of BI data, tools, reports, client issue resolution; this includes creating documentation and providing direct training sessions as needed.
  • Conduct quality assurance and testing of reports to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends in report writing and data visualization.
  • Design, develop, and maintain AI agents and automated workflows that improve operational standards, reporting efficiency, and cross-team processes.
  • Evaluate business operations to identify automation opportunities and build AI-driven solutions using enterprise LLMs, natural-language interfaces, and agent frameworks.
  • Monitor AI agent performance, validate outputs, and enforce accuracy, security, and compliance within automated processes.

Job Requirements / Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience (5 years) working as a Business Intelligence Developer or similar role.
  • Proficiency and proven experience in specific BI tools, Power BI and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Hands-on real-world experience and knowledge of Microsoft Fabric, OpenAI models and creating natural language reporting experiences for users.
  • A strong understanding of concepts such as data warehouses, data lakes and lake houses and hands on experience using Microsoft Fabric as a data platform.
  • Experience working within an SDLC workflow, using git-based source control such as GitHub and Azure Dev Ops.
  • Strong SQL skills and ability to work with complex datasets.
  • Experience developing AI agents, workflow automations, or LLM-based applications using frameworks such as LangChain, Semantic Kernel, Azure OpenAI, or equivalent enterprise tools.
  • Understanding of prompt engineering, agent orchestration, model evaluation, and safe-deployment practices.
  • Ability to translate operational processes into structured logic for AI automation.
  • Knowledge and experience in utility grid, energy, energy efficiency, carbon reduction and/or grid electrification highly desired.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to interact effectively with stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving aptitude and proactive approach to identifying and addressing reporting issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders while delivering excellent customer service in a highly dynamic growth environment.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time. Travel may include various means of transportation including automobile, public transportation, rail, and airplane.
