Job Type: Regular Full-time



What's the Opportunity?

Anchor QEA is seeking a full-time, entry-level geologist or environmental scientist to support work in the Saratoga Springs, NY area as well as throughout the northeastern United States. We are looking for candidates that are interested in upland and aquatic site investigations with the ability to collect data to assist project teams working to solve complex environmental problems. The applicant should have 0 to 2 years of experience performing field assessments and analyzing data and must be willing to work outdoors in all seasons and travel to work sites out of the area overnight on occasion. The ideal candidate will have prior experience operating a variety of small power boats and must be a self-starter ready to learn and ask questions in a collaborative work environment.

Responsibilities:



  • Participate in fieldwork as team member. Will be responsible for reviewing and becoming familiar with applicable plans and asking appropriate questions to understand work to be completed and contribute to a successful project.
  • Read, understand, and abide by Health and Safety Plans and contribute to a culture of safety
  • Attend training opportunities and develop both field and office-based skills to support current and future projects.
  • Interact with project managers and agency staff (daily reporting, communicate field deviations, project status updates) and assist in interpretation of site data.
  • Support the preparation of sampling and analysis plans, remedial investigation and feasibility study reports, and design documents, including technical specifications.
  • Travel to support field investigation or construction projects up to 50% of time.
  • Assist with operation/operate a variety of sampling vessels including small jon boats, skiffs, and pontoon boats
  • Maintain DOT driving certification and operate company vehicles (pickup trucks, vans, box trucks) including trailering boats and other small utility trailers
  • Follow Anchor QEA policies and procedures including, but not limited to, environmental health and safety, quality assurance, and quality control



What Are We Looking For?

Ideal candidates will have the following:



  • Bachelor's degree in geological or environmental science or related field
  • 0 to 2 years of relevant fieldwork experience
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently or collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team
  • Proficiency using MS Office applications
  • Critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (preferred; will be provided by Anchor QEA upon hire if not currently certified)
  • Prior experience conducting data analysis using ArcGIS, Python, or similar software packages.
  • Experience with aquatic field investigations (e.g., sediment and surface water sample collection; boat trailering/boaters certification) is a plus.
  • Clean driving record
  • Drug and alcohol screening may be required

Salary and Other Compensation:



  • Salary Range: $65,000 - $72,500
  • Annual Bonus
  • Other potential bonus types: Billable Time Bonus, Spot Bonus, Milestone Anniversary Bonus, Receiving Professional License/Certification Bonus, Peer-reviewed Publication Bonus, Employee Referral Bonus.



Base Level Benefits for Regular Full-Time Positions:

  • Paid Company and Floating Holidays: 7 paid company and 2 floating holidays annually
  • Vacation: 2 weeks accrued paid vacation based on length of service. Vacation may vary by level.
