THE POSITION

Further your career in corrections and the parole process! The Parole Board is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to lead our team as the Chief Parole Hearing Officer. By overseeing the statewide parole hearing process, you will help us continue to promote public safety and positive change. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be responsible for directing and managing the statewide operation of Parole Board hearings to ensure that all proceedings are conducted fairly, consistently, and in accordance with applicable laws, policies, and regulations. Your work will involve supervising and training Parole Hearing Officers and other statewide assigned staff, evaluating the performance of Parole Hearing Officers, and participating in parole hearings. You will develop policy pertaining to the parole hearing process and ensure consistency of recommendations and decision making. You will also assist the Board Chairman and Board Secretary with various projects and program development initiatives. Additionally, you will coordinate with correctional facilities, parole staff, victims, and community partners to ensure timely case resolution and effective communication throughout the parole decision-making process.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 2 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Deputy Chief Parole Hearing Officer (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Eight years of professional experience in parole, probation, or criminal justice dealing with persons involved in criminal or delinquent activities or programs concerned with such individuals, including one year in a supervisory capacity; and a bachelor's degree in criminal justice, social work, or a closely related field; or
  • Eight years of professional experience in parole, probation, criminal justice, or social work dealing with persons involved in criminal or delinquent activities, or programs concerned with such individuals, including one year in a supervisory capacity; and four years of paraprofessional experience in criminal justice or social work; or
  • Five years of professional experience in parole, probation, or criminal justice dealing with persons involved in criminal activity or delinquent activities or programs concerned with such individuals, including one year in a supervisory capacity; and graduation with a law degree from a school of law accredited by the American Bar Association; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of professional supervisory experience in parole, probation, or criminal justice dealing with persons involved in criminal or delinquent activities or programs concerned with such individuals.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
