DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will perform inspections at various stages of transportation construction projects, working closely with contractors and surveyors to verify grades, elevations, and the layout of structures and roadways. Your responsibilities will include completing essential documentation, reviewing contractor work, and collaborating with the inspection team. You will utilize technology, such as computers and iPads, to input daily project data into an electronic documentation system and generate reports that track progress and schedules. Additionally, you will monitor material quantities and testing through both manual and computerized methods, engaging with department staff, government agencies, legislators, and the public to facilitate effective project management. The role also involves preparing Project Site Activity Reports, performing calculations, and resolving any on-site construction issues. Inspections will encompass evaluating the placement of materials, conducting compaction tests, and maintaining thorough quality control reports to uphold the integrity of the construction work. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- You will work closely with vendors and work hours may change based on vendor availability.
- You will report to project field office's locations within one of the following PennDOT Engineer District 8-0 counties, Adams, Cumberland, Franklin, York, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, or Perry County.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or
- One year of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:
- This particular position requires possession of a valid PA Class C Driver's License.
