About the Department:


The mission of the Enterprise Applications (EA) department is to plan, implement and maintain integrated central and distributed information systems and associated databases that support the business needs of the university. The Customer Relationship Management (CRM) team plays a critical role.


About the Position:


The Salesforce Business Analyst plays a pivotal role in connecting the university's strategic goals with practical, technology-enabled solutions that enhance the student, faculty, and alumni experience. Serving as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, this role focuses on optimizing the university's use of Salesforce across academic, administrative, and engagement functions.


Responsibilities:


Requirements Management



  • Elicits, analyzes, and documents detailed business and functional requirements to ensure Salesforce solutions align with institutional strategy and user needs.


Stakeholder Collaboration



  • Facilitates workshops, meetings, and interviews with users, subject matter experts, and Product Owners to define scope and prioritize features.


Agile Documentation



  • Translates business requirements into clear and concise User Stories with robust Acceptance Criteria for the development team in an Agile environment.


Documentation and Training



  • Creates and maintains documentation, including process flows, configuration guides, and training materials that promote knowledge sharing and user adoption.


Solution Validation



  • Works with the development and QA teams to design test cases, validate delivered functionality against acceptance criteria, and ensure solutions meet intended business objectives.


Platform Expertise



  • Leverages a solid understanding of Salesforce capabilities-including Education Cloud, Sales Cloud, Marketing Cloud, and Service Cloud-to recommend and design solutions that meet business goals.


Process Improvement



  • Partners with stakeholders to analyze current processes, identify pain points and improvement opportunities, and propose process or configuration enhancements within Salesforce.


Team Participation



  • Actively participates in all scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.


Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Typically, 3-5 years of experience as a Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, or similar role;
  • Proven experience with the full lifecycle of business analysis activities, including process mapping, requirements elicitation, user story creation, and validation, with the ability to synthesize complex stakeholder input into actionable, prioritized requirements;
  • Hands-on experience applying Agile methodologies (Scrum or Kanban) to deliver incremental value in collaboration with Product Owners and cross-functional teams;
  • Direct experience working within or supporting a higher education institution (university, college);
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of Salesforce Clouds, particularly Education Cloud, with additional experience across Sales, Marketing, and Service Clouds;
  • Knowledge of the student lifecycle (recruitment, enrollment, admissions, student success, etc.); and
  • Exceptional communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to translate between technical and business perspectives and build consensus among diverse stakeholders.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Salesforce Business Analyst or Administrator certification; and
  • Hands on experience working with Salesforce.
