Job Summary:

The Technician I - Fiber is responsible for all aspects, of Fiber including but not limited to installing, terminating, testing, and splicing. General

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Cabling & Termination *The Technician I - Fiber must have basic copper termination skills *The Technician I - Fiber will install a work area outlet for the floor, modular furniture, andwall (terminate CAT 3 & CAT 5 jacks. Mount faceplates and surface mount boxes correctly.Adhere to IES COMMUNICATIONS labeling standards). *The Technician I - Fiber will build closets (Mount and install backboards, cross-connects,racks, patch panels, fiber optic, and hardware). Install grounding for racks, equipment,and cable as required. Complete all IDC connections (e.g. terminate 110/66 blocks andpatch panels). *The Technician I - Fiber performs testing, continuity test horizontal and riser cable, use ofvolt-ohmmeter, troubleshoot opens, crosses, shorts, and transpose pairs on horizontal andriser cable. *The Technician I - Fiber installs LC, SC, ST, FC, FDDI, SMA, and MPO/MTP connectors, forboth multi-mode & single-mode fiber *The Technician I - Fiber will terminate simplex & duplex jumper cord *The Technician I - Fiber will terminate & breakout outside plant (loose tube) fiber (e.g.Corning/Commscope) *The Technician I - Fiber will terminate & breakout outside plant (loose tube) fiber (e.g.3DNX) *The Technician I - Fiber will terminate indoor tight buffered multimode and single-modefiber *The Technician I - Fiber will install fan-out kits including buffer tube *The Technician I - Fiber will calculate the end to end loss budgets in accordance withTIA/EIA standards for multimode & single-mode fiber *The Technician I - Fiber will fully complete all IES paperwork accurately and on timespecifically, timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, Job Blog, tooltransfers and others as required *The Technician I - Fiber will complete any other duties as assigned Testing *The Technician I - Fiber will test using an OTDR, Fluke DTX 180 *The Technician I - Fiber troubleshoots using an OTDR to identify and correct problems endto end, and Network-wide Splicing *The Technician I - Fiber will perform mechanical splicing with all types of fiber cable *The Technician I - Fiber will perform fusion splicing with all types of fiber cable *The Technician I - Fiber performs building entrance splices, maintenance space, and directburied Min USD $22.00/Hr. Max USD $27.00/Hr.

Qualifications

Physical and Mental Requirements:

*The Technician I - Fiber must be self-motivated, positive in approach, professional, andhelp create, develop, and implement project process improvement(s). *The Technician I - Fiber must promote the Company culture and mission to all employees,vendors, clients, and business partners. *The Technician I - Fiber must possess and be proficient with the listed tools. *The Technician I - Fiber must be able to act as the Company liaison for interface withcustomer representative(s). *The Technician I - Fiber must possess proven problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills,and the ability to effectively read, write, and give oral presentation(s). *The Technician I - Fiber must be able to work at heights, off of a ladder, and in confinedspaces, lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds. *The Technician I - Fiber must be able to stand and walk very large job sites regularly. *The Technician I - Fiber must be able to see and distinguish different colors, read the smallprint, and hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones. *The Technician I - Fiber must be able to travel within the branch territory and/or regionalterritory as needed. *Regular attendance is mandatory Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements: *Must possess a High School diploma or GED equivalent *Must possess and be proficient with the listed tools. *Must be proficient at terminating all connector types and methods for SMF and MMFsystems (Unicam, anaerobic, heat-cure) *Must have Testing & Troubleshooting MMF & SMF systems experience (OTDR & PMLS) *Must be able to meet IES driving standards policy Minimum Years of Experience 2-4 License Required No Minimum Education High School Overview IES is a national provider of industrial products and infrastructure services to a variety of end markets, including electrical, mechanical and communications contracting solutions for the commercial, industrial, residential and renewable energy markets.
