Position Purpose
The International Shipping Supervisor oversees all aspects of outbound and inbound freight activity within the warehouse to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with OWI's freight and international shipping policies. This role serves as the primary contact for all shipping and traffic-related matters and is responsible for coordinating how products are received, handled, and dispatched from the facility.
Main Duties, Tasks, and Responsibilities
- Plan, generate, and manage Transfer Orders (TOs) for daily shipments.
- Establish, monitor, and maintain the outbound drayage and dock schedules to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Respond promptly to appointment requests, driver inquiries, and other shipping communications.
- Prepare and verify shipping documentation for all outbound orders.
- Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations and documentation requirements.
- Oversee container loading operations and ensure best practices in product handling and safety.
- Obtain necessary signatures and maintain all required shipping records and paperwork.
- Coordinate carrier routing according to customer specifications and company policies.
- Collaborate closely with the Operations Supervisor to prioritize workloads and meet customer service expectations.
- Assign and delegate daily tasks to warehouse and forklift operators to ensure workflow efficiency.
- Review and approve PTO requests and timecards for assigned forklift operators.
- Develop, implement, and maintain shipment reconciliation procedures and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Provide and support SAP training and ensure adherence to process standards.
- Partner with the management team to enhance product and process knowledge across the warehouse team.
- Address customer service inquiries related to order and shipment status in a timely and professional manner.
- Foster collaboration with all warehouse team members to achieve departmental goals and service commitments.
Education, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- High school diploma or GED required; Associates or Bachelors degree preferred.
- 3-5 years of warehouse shipping or logistics experience, including international freight.
- Supervisory experience in a warehouse or logistics environment strongly preferred.
- Proficient in SAP or similar ERP systems.
- Strong knowledge of international shipping regulations and container handling.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to train and motivate a team.
- Bi-Lingual preferred.
- Comfortable working independently.
