The Center for Prevention Science within the School of Social Work is seeking candidates for a full-time SAMHSA funded Prevention Fellow position. The Center's mission is to develop and disseminate knowledge through research that builds the capacity of community-based organizations to create changes in public policy and other environmental conditions that positively impacts community wellbeing and health. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator of the externally funded, SAMHSA supported, Northeast and Caribbean Prevention Technology Transfer Center ( PTTC), the Prevention Fellow will participate in the Prevention Fellowship Program, as part of a national cohort.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Prevention Fellow for The Center for Prevention Science within the School of Social Work.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Builds prevention workforce capacity to carry out prevention efforts through training and technical assistance focused on knowledge and skills needed to be effective substance misuse primary prevention professionals.
  • Receives mentorship from host site prevention staff associated with their placement and will be exposed to the day-to-day workings of the site.
  • Works on projects as assigned by their host site and will directly participate in learning and capacity development activities coordinated by the PTTC network.
  • Travels to national conferences/trainings at least twice per year for multiple days.

FLSA Exempt
Salary Details $60,000

Qualifications






Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, prevention science, public health, human services, or a related field, three (3) years of relevant experience with at least one (1) year of experience in project coordination or research; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
