KPMG is currently seeking a Senior Associate to join our State and Local Tax (SALT) practice.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide excellent client service to multi-state companies with severance tax issues, including compliance, advisory services, planning, technology and audits
  • Identify severance tax incentives and deductions to reduce overall severance tax liabilities for a variety of clients
  • Meet with clients and/or taxing authorities, prepare correspondence, complete data reconciliations, defend severance tax audits and prepare tax authority filings
  • Preparation, analysis and technical support of severance tax returns and incentive application filings with attention to state and local tax issues
  • Assist our severance tax group and clients with severance tax technology and database applications
  • Lead a team of associates in completing a variety of severance tax projects including refunds, marketing cost calculations, incentives and compliance
Qualifications:
  • Minimum three years of recent multi-state severance tax experience in a public accounting or consulting firm
  • Bachelors Degree, J.D., LL.M. in Taxation and/or Masters in Taxation (MST) from an accredited college/university
  • Prior experience or knowledge in severance tax processes, concepts and tools
  • Experience with various other corporate taxes and their impact on oil and gas operators
  • Strong knowledge of the development, planning and execution of severance tax refund claims
