Daily Tasks & Key Requirements

Responsibilities:




  • Process insurance claims: verify coverage, secure pre-authorizations, complete documentation, and submit to insurers or government payers.



  • Assign accurate billing codes (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) by reviewing provider notes and medical records to support correct reimbursement.



  • Generate patient invoices for services rendered, including collecting deductibles, co-payments and interacting with patients on billing inquiries.



  • Post and reconcile payments received from patients and insurers, ensuring correct application to accounts.



  • Monitor outstanding claims, follow-up with insurers to resolve issues or delays, and resubmit corrected claims as needed.



  • Manage denials: investigate causes, appeal denied claims, identify patterns of denial and collaborate with providers to mitigate recurring issues.



  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, insurance billing guidelines, and stay current on changes in reimbursement policies and coding standards.



  • Maintain documentation and reports related to billing activities, revenue collection, accounts receivable aging, and performance metrics.






Requirements:




  • Minimum of 2 years of medical billing experience (entry-level applicants will not be considered).



  • Proficiency with medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.



  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy/physiology, ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS code sets.



  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy in data entry and documentation.



  • Exceptional communication skills-able to interact professionally with patients, providers, insurance companies.



  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.



  • Familiarity with insurance verification and pre-authorization processes.



  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.






Hours & Pay




  • Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (standard business hours, no rotating shift).



  • Pay Rate: $18.00 to $25.00 per hour (based on experience).
