Position Summary

Under the supervision of Associate Professor in the School of Education and Information Studies, the Research Assistant provides support for behavioral science research studies involving human subjects. Activities include supporting: recruitment and retention of research participants, data collection (using both quantitative and qualitative methods), and contribution to the analysis of research study results (e.g., data coding). This position will primarily support a large clinical trial of a multi-level leadership implementation strategy to support RUBIES called Helping Educational Leaders Mobilize Evidence (HELM) in public schools.

Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications

  • Basic research experience, including familiarity with data collection, survey administration, or participant recruitment. (Required)
  • Experience conducting research interviews or focus groups. (Preferred)
  • Experience working in or collaborating with public schools or educational settings. (Preferred)
  • Experience working with or interest in supporting research involving autistic individuals and/or developmental disabilities. (Preferred)
  • Experience working as part of a research team or assisting with multi-site studies. (Preferred)
  • Experience working with educators, administrators, or community organizations, preferably in K-12 or higher education research settings. (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in software applications including MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access), and familiarity with data collection tools such as REDCap and Qualtrics. (Required)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and competing deadlines. (Required)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with study participants, community partners, and interdisciplinary research teams. (Required)
  • Knowledge of research methods, human subjects research protocols, and ethical considerations in behavioral or clinical research. (Required)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive data and adhere to IRB and data security guidelines. (Required)
  • Strong attention to detail in data entry, record keeping, and document management to ensure data integrity and accuracy. (Required)
  • Ability to collect, organize, and summarize quantitative and qualitative data for reports, presentations, and publications. (Required)
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a research team, exercising sound judgment and initiative. (Required)
  • Skill in scheduling, coordinating logistics, and managing participant tracking systems. (Required)
  • Proficiency in data analysis software such as SPSS, NVivo, and R. (Preferred)
  • Flexibility and adaptability to support multiple ongoing projects, changing priorities, and varied research settings (e.g., schools, community organizations). (Preferred)

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field such as Psychology, Sociology, Education, Public Health, or other social/behavioral sciences. (Required)
