We rely on our talented and dedicated team members to provide reliable products with personalized service. We are seeking a Director of Tax and Investments for County Materials at Brookfield, WI. Job Summary: The Director of Tax and Investments is a key member of the Finance leadership team, responsible for overseeing the company's tax strategy, compliance, and planning, as well as managing the organization's investment portfolio and capital allocation initiatives. This role acts as a strategic advisor to the Owner, CFO, and executive leadership team-balancing compliance, risk management, and return optimization while supporting long-term financial growth. The ideal candidate combines deep tax expertise with strong investment insight and business acumen, providing actionable guidance that enhances financial performance and sustainability. Job Duties:
- Lead the company's tax strategy to minimize liabilities while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
- Oversee preparation and filing of corporate, family, and property tax returns, and manage relationships with external tax advisors and auditors.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and adjust tax strategies proactively.
- Manage tax planning for mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, and other business transactions.
- Develop and manage the company's investment strategy, optimizing returns on cash, reserves, and strategic assets within defined risk parameters.
- Analyze investment performance, risk exposure, and market trends to support data-driven decision-making.
- Provide strategic guidance on corporate structure, capital allocation, and treasury operations.
- Serve as primary advisor on tax and investment matters to the Owner, CFO, and executive team.
- Provide oversight and strategic guidance across company entities while supporting ownership on estate and succession planning matters.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team while ensuring strong internal controls and governance.
Work Environment: Primarily office-based with frequent interaction across Finance, Legal, and executive leadership. Occasional travel may be required for meetings or initiatives. Physical Requirements:
- Frequently stand, sit, walk, talk, and hear.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field; Master's preferred.
- CPA required; additional certifications (CFA, MBT, JD/LLM in Tax) a plus.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in corporate tax, public accounting, or investment management, including 3-5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local tax laws; international tax experience a plus.
- Proven experience managing corporate investment strategies or treasury portfolios.
- Strong financial modeling, analytical, and presentation skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
