Since 1987, Laurel Ridge Treatment Center has been the premier provider of specialized behavioral health and addictive disease services in San Antonio and South Texas. Our 330-bed facility is one of the largest freestanding psychiatric hospitals in the United States. Position Summary: The Director of Health Information Management (HIM) oversees and ensures medical records are complete, accurate and coded appropriately. Protects the confidentiality of protected health information and ensure appropriate security measures are in place.Serves in the role of HIPAA Privacy Officer for Laurel Ridge Treatment Center.

Education:Bachelor's Degree required

Licensure/Certification/Registration (List the required and / or preferred licenses, certifications, or registrations, if any): Registered Record Administrator CertificationValid Texas Drivers License

Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Supervision of the employees of the HIM Department.

2. Enforces and assures policies and procedures for the HIM Department as well as the hospital are being followed.

3. Administers and manages the organization's HIPAA privacy and Security program.

4. Assures up-to-date personal knowledge and facility-wide awareness and training regarding legal and policy aspects of health information privacy.

5. Serves as HIPAA Privacy and Security Officer and facility contact person in matters pertaining to health information policies and practices.

6. Participation in Continuous Quality Improvement for the hospital.

7. Ensures that hospital reporting and data is submitted to THCIC or other entities for state reporting purposes are submitted correctly and in a timely manner.

8. Performs other duties as assigned/required by this position.
